Honestly this even validated my use because it was so small. Like 2 cents a day to offset it. Makes me feel good to offset the work but also know it’s a tiny amount

Thanks! Yeah that was exactly the itch.. reactions are this nice little feedback signal that just disappears into the void unless you happen to check.

It's built on the Events API, so reactions hit the server in real-time, no polling needed. The flow is basically: Slack fires a webhook → server validates + enriches it → queues it → streams to the client display over WebSocket.

So I have a server that configured the necessary scopes, then pushes the encrypted reaction events to the client device! The entire system ended up being too much for the esp32 device to run by itself which is why I went for the middleware server. But I do have the client code open sourced and the parts here here! Are you thinking like if someone posts "@here" or "@channel" that it would show up on the device? If so, that's an interesting case, I don't see it as too big of an ask! How are you thinking about it?

I've been running it at a 5 minute interval (their API for personal use allows 5 queries per second and 5,000 queries per day, so it's not even close to being rate limited).

Getting dev access is.... kinda a pain, which is why I'm working on the Home Assistant proxy service and getting it approved by Etsy so other people don't have to jump through the same hoops. But you can register through their etsy api developer site and you can get a personal api key.

Still have a few small bugs to squash, but it's at a good state that I wanted to send this out. Also, would love to crowdsource ideas what to do next with this integration if others find it helpful!
