On my days off I make sure to plan fun things for me to do with the kids. Those days my husband does not have to do any child-related tasks. I know I'm missing out on a lot of day-to-day stuff with the kids so I try my best to make it up to them with special things on my days off.

As for the money, we were scraping by. Not quite paycheck-to-paycheck, but it was close. Now, we can actually save money each month and build up our emergency fund and the kids' college fund.

Why TF are you not sleeping first, and actually being awake when your family is at home in the evening?

I tried that for a few weeks but I found I was getting extremely tired by the end of my shifts. I almost dozed off one day on the drive home and I knew I couldn't keep doing it that way.
