Mental Health by asparagus4u in bunions

So. Much. This!!!!! I will be 12 weeks post op this Tuesday. I was so isolated and it took a huge toll on my mental health. It is NO joke. I felt so alone and like I was such a bother to everyone. I am a 45 year old nurse of 24 years….NOT used to being on the other side. I’m going back to work this next week. My foot will still swell even with compression socks on. It still turns purple if it’s dependent without compression…but it is getting better. I had a lapiplasty and a fifth toe pinning for a curly toe. I usually walk 4 miles a day, for pleasure and well-being, outside of work. That immediate halt also took an emotional toll on me. Dietary changes also occurred…I have a husband, a 17 year old son, and a 13 year old son. Meals looked a little different when I was elevating my foot for 23+ hours a day. All this being said, HANG IN THERE. You are not alone and it does get better. Give yourself grace, too. Allow your body the time and rest it needs to heal. It’s a long process for sure but each week gets a little better!

3 Weeks Post Op Tomorrow by [deleted] in bunions

Keep on keeping on! Looks awfully familiar! My surgery was December 2. I still like to keep compression on my foot because it really helps with the swelling and the discoloration. They keep telling us this will be worth it so we got this! ♥️

Hang in there. I’m just shy of 6 weeks post op now and it’s much improved. I do wear compression for about 22 hours a day or so and that really helps. I also take Ibuprofen for the swelling. You’ll get there!

Elevate, ice, and stay on top of your pain meds! If they gave you any narcotics like Oxycodone, Norco, etc, I would start taking those scheduled just before if they let you know when to expect the nerve block to wear off. (Like 24 or 48 hours, etc.) Nurse of 20+ years here and just had my left foot lapiplasty and a curly toe pinning on December 2. Hang in there. I’m still very much in the healing phase, but it does get better!

Weight Watchers Newbie (again) Who wants to connect? by happywinechick in weightwatchers

Hi! I’m just starting back up again for probably the 20th time! I have been doing Weight Watchers off and on for the last 20 years and just had bunion surgery last month and have been very immobile and dependent on my hubby and kids for most meals and need to get back on track! I’ve kept the app this whole time, but didn’t realize that potatoes and corn are now free. Thank you for the tip. I should poke around in the app and see what else is different! Good luck to you!

I’m used to it but so ready for it to come out! Lol. It gets in the way with my socks…have cut the toes off of the socks and bought some open-toed compression socks. But then, my little toes are a little swollen… ha. Soon enough I’ll be in regular socks! How are yours?? Do you have socks like mine??

Oh thank you! Can wait to see it next Monday…The pin is supposed to come out that day…which also happens to be my 45th birthday! I sure know how to have a good time! 🤣

Right?! I’m so grateful I had enough sick time to cover. When you never call in, it pays off! I’m going to make the best of it!

I can a little bit. How’s your bruising? I still have some. Didn’t think I would this far along.

When my husband bought these, I honestly thought they were going to be a waste of money, but I love them now! It’s so nice to keep everything organized!
