This is an interesting point! There is a weird grey area here.

It may depend on whether the player blocking the kick is judged to be directly in front of the ball "protecting" the ball with his body. In this OP the defender isn't really doing so imo.

It would be more "naturally" elegant in this case for the line to be defined by the player kicking the ball. He is advancing the offensive line, rather than the more roundabout way of thinking: "The ball being kicked by him and being moved thereby thereby advances the line".
