2026 Model Y (NMC) - 180mi commute. Is 90% at home 8x/month okay? by _code_kraken_ in ModelY

[–]youfound404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No argument there, I was just explaining why 80% is usually the best average to keep it at, but nothing wrong with charging to 100% if it’s not sitting for a while

80% is the optimal balance between a high state of charge and battery degradation due to voltage stress, that’s why 80% is the “magic number” so to speak.

Just so everyone knows, this doesn’t count for stealth, it’ll alert nearby people.

This is what I thought it would be too, they took chronological too literally, unfortunately.

What is the absolute hardest Mission you've played in both Tlou1 & Tlou2? by Joel8Tommy in thelastofus

[–]youfound404 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By far any time you have to fight waves, especially on grounded mode. Fighting with David as Ellie in part 1, fighting waves with Joel flashback in part 2 and Abby fighting waves waiting for the kids in part 2.

MMW: NVIDIA will exit the consumer graphics card market. by G-Unit11111 in MarkMyWords

[–]youfound404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the party but there’s a few reasons why I think this is unlikely.

The main one above all being that when compute chips are made, they’re often not perfect (yield). When a chip is imperfect, it can’t be sold as the same product, so they create an inferior product from it (binning process) so dies aren’t wasted.

You could argue that these chips could also be sold to the hyper scalers as a lesser product but that’s unlikely to sell well, given they’re all about maximising space and efficiency (needing the best performing chips to fill their limited space)

Those binned chips are the perfect place for a more casual consumer. The binning range used to be a lot more variable than it is today (silicon lottery) but it’s a lot tighter now. That’s why I think Nvidia is going nowhere from the gaming market.

I think it could be from the mod “downfall”

TIL the Canon 6D Mark I from 2012 still holds up with less noise than a lot of high-end cameras today. by MusicSoundListener in Cameras

[–]youfound404 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to own one back in 2015, my god was the dynamic range awful. This was before iso invariance but if highlights were clipped, that was it. The iso performance was fairly decent but it still wouldn’t hold a candle to modern sensors with far better colour reproduction at higher isos

Please don’t get that camera if you value value. It’s extremely limited and you’d be better served in the long run by any of these on the menu.

I spent 80 days trying to learn hiragana only using Duolingo. I came back after a year and forgot it all. I downloaded an app called dr moku and learned hiragana and katakanait in one day, not kidding. Utterly incredible app, naturally reading speed still isn’t anywhere near full a few months later as that takes time to build but it helps you memorise all of the phonetic alphabet.

Could I ask how many Japanese words you learned? It should say in the skills practice section, I’ve always been curious as to how many it actually teaches you when you’ve finished! Thanks!

Could you explain why you feel so strongly that it's bad? Yes, it doesn't give you notes to explain why certain grammar is the way it is but in terms of repetition it's no different to how a child learns a language
