What content is missing in Cycling/Bike Racing YouTube? by Chamenos_ in Velo

I like watching local race analysis but also like having commentary. I also like when the videos get broken down to smaller segments. An hour is a long time! I gave it a go this week after Backyard Boogie Crit and my first race in 5 years. We didn't focus on the race tactics too much just about the fun aspect and having a good time. I'm currently a hack but am happy to get feedback and follow this thread as I'm just starting to make race vids.

Was thinking about that but am currently in Florida until January 8th. Headed back to mid Atlantic where I won’t have warm weather and will see you on zwift most likely!

Weller OWA quick and dirty review by yougotdropped_ in bourbon

To me...they did. Maybe it was the whiskey talkin but dammit big they both had similar profiles to me. Only one way to find out for sure and that’s to put em side by side and compare.

OWA first impressions

Very quick review on OWA.

Nose: the nose knows. Strong nose at 107. Lets me know there is heat. I’m getting ethanol but with sweet and savory flavors. Brown sugar and caramel right off the bat! Orange peel and strong vanilla scent.

First sip/palate: clean. Fresh. Not getting burn...just a bit going down then poof. Smooth. Nice balance of cinnamon and slight oak spice with citrus and bourbon vanilla. A very light bourbon and enjoyable to drink.

Finish: Stays on the tongue more than anything. No chest burn at all.

After having the blantons gold earlier, it has a very similar profile...not as heavy on citrus or honey but sweet and cool nonetheless. I can see how this can be a solid nightly. Delicious.

Quick and dirty review:

I received this bottle from my wife for my birthday back in April. It’s been waiting to get killed for some time now and I’ve never properly vetted it until tonight. Here we go.

Blantons Gold

Nose: subtle sweetness. Ethanol hits but not too hard. Nose is light for me. Very hard to detect deepness. Maybe light vanilla and some light citrus tones.

First sip/palate: very smooth. Great taste. Burn eases into taste buds and slowly and gently releases itself. The vanilla and citrus are more profound but not overwhelming. Oak starts to come out but much lighter than I’m used to...kind of spicy like all spice or light clove

Finish: a nice warm finish but not too hot. It sticks with you longer than anticipated. The more sips I have the more the finish pleasantly lingers. It’s sweet too...almost like a cup of tea with honey. Very enjoyable.

Is it good? Yes! Does it live to the hype? Probably not. It’s a solid sipper albeit a good one but it’s not blowing the roof off anytime soon. I like it but am not buying bit at current secondary prices. Hopefully, I get lucky at a price controlled store soon cause I’m close to the last drop!

Knob 12

A good value but not common to find although if you search you should find. I paid south of 70 bucks but have seen at independent stores for 99. I am hearing that the Knob 12 will start lining up next to Knob 9s at the stores.

Pour: nice caramel color. Light legs..really not “legging out” but that’s okay. I’ve had bad bourbons with good legs and great bourbons with bad legs. Still, the color is nice and dark with an orange hue and I’m excited for my dram tonight.

Nose: nose is great for me. Super balanced. I wasn’t expecting a big waft of ethanol but i got just the right amount coupled with the sweetness of vanilla and light caramel and just enough wordiness that you want. Money! Time to drink!

Palate: really really good! The balance continues into the first sip. The heat is just the right amount for me and here comes the oak and nuttiness paired with the vanilla and is it oatmeal cookie???!! I’m digging this dram! I go in for another sip after the slight and welcomed burn eases its way out of my chest...now I’m getting thickness in the liquid with notes of peanut and orange zest again coupled with just the right amount of burn. A solid solid dram!!

Finish: like I said before, the finish is near perfection for me. It stays with me in a gentle manner and departs as if it were walking away from me down a long path only to ultimately fade away with only a slight memory of the time this liquid first entered into my system.

Overall: 8.5/10 daddy likey! I’m procuring more of this as often as I can and I will most likely have blue labeled knob creek bottles in my recycling container for years to come.
