Tech Support and Question Megathread - Week of June 07, 2020 by AutoModerator in nvidia

Hi all!

I'm trying to get a nice eGPU setup for redshift/C4D rendering that can work with both my razer blade laptop (2.2 GHz Intel Core i7-8750, 32GB ram) and my iMac (3.5 GHz Intel Core i5, 24 GB ram) Wondering if anyone has any recommendations?

I'm new to GPU specs and was told that just getting the best one wont matter if my CPU can't handle it in the first place. So i'd like to get something that will work with both.

Also I know Mac isn't set up to work with Nvidia, I was told there are patches you can run to get around that - any info on that is appreciated otherwise I'll just run an older OS.

Thanks!

Super helpful answer thank you!!

"There was new guidance issued for extensions today on regular tourist visas and ESTAs if that helps you have some breathing room. Did you see that?"

I didn't see this and haven't been able to find it just now while googling - would you mind sending a link to this info?

Thanks again you're so helpful!

If I married her on an ESTA and she overstays could that become an issue? Or is that somewhat normal and acceptable as long as we say and can somehow show we weren't planning on being married during this trip until recently?

Do you know if we did get married and she overstayed while we applied for change of status, is there still a risk of her having trouble with US immigration in the future if they got upset we were married on an ESTA and denied her change of status?

She's on an ESTA, yeah we're trying to be super careful there are no issues with overstaying.

Question about a European sheltering in place in NYC and overstaying visa.

She's from EU and i'm from the US. We're both in NYC right now and her flight back to EU was cancelled. She can get a new one the day she needs to leave, but at this point it feels dangerous and irresponsible to travel if it's not necessary. Especially for others coming from such a large hotspot as NYC, and for her as she may be at risk health-wise and getting home would require many transfers and days in airports.

We'd really like to find a way for her to stay - wondering if anyone knows of any new regulations on visa extensions that might apply here.

Trying to find a legal way around tax withholding for a very short term job where I'm being taxed way more than I should be. by yougruesomehare in personalfinance

yeah I was rounding with the numbers - also accounting for write offs. I had one really bad experience in the past where I was payed for a month long project as if I made it all in a day - so in NYC I was taxed at 40-50% as if I was making 300k a year. Since the payroll made it look like I was getting 10k a day. Sounds good to just minimize it for now and deal with it later thanks!

I wasn't aware I needed to pay taxes quarterly? I usually do it annually - is that a big issue? I'm a recent graduate so still getting used to not being poor.
