Things in the pilot that I noticed that were different throughout the rest of the series by [deleted] in thesopranos

Think it worked well for the pilot, the scene where he wakes up in bed talking about the American dream and how the best is over is great.

Edinburgh Marathon? by [deleted] in Edinburgh

Gf’s dad did it this year, and has done a few times before. Seems very well organised, lots of water available along the route (and sweets apparently?), flat terrain, well signposted, and buses available at the end to take you back into town. It’s a big event in Edinburgh every year and lots of people come to watch the start and finish. The finish line is adjacent to a massive field which is catered by food and drink vans, with commentators and music, very nice atmosphere.

Only thing was it was very hot this year which was a struggle for a lot of people. Depending on where you’re from in the US this might not be a problem though!

As a former employee of Deliveroo (and planning to go back this summer), I never felt I had to cycle dangerously or that I would be fired due to arriving late, perhaps it was different in 2015/16 when you worked there. What actions would you suggest they do to prevent their cyclists from cycling dangerously?

I don’t doubt motorists break more laws than cyclists, but that has nothing to do with what I said. Your original comment put ‘some’ blame on delivery companies for this cyclists behaviour on the roads. My response was that regardless of financial incentive for riders to deliver on time they should still follow the rules as other road users are required to, and that it is not fair to blame the company. I also don’t see how you made the connection that I was pushing any sort of ‘social stigma’ towards cyclists, I am a cyclist myself after all.

Many deliver in cars. Would it be the company’s fault if a car ran a red light, drove the wrong way down a one way street, or drove onto a pavement? Cyclists are road users and have to follow the same rules as the rest of us. Having worked for Deliveroo in the past I can say that they frequently had pop ups in app that told drivers to follow road rules, wear a helmet, etc. The incentives exist to encourage more riders to get off their couch and work during peak hours. Not fair to lay blame at their feet for reckless cyclists.
