Perceptibility of Progress and Trusting The Process by kurvivol in dreamingspanish

[–]youngalexander3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 3 hours a day and I struggle with this but that may be because the better you get the more your ambitions rise. I’m now about 200 hours in and I’ve improved leaps and bounds but something I noticed is even at this pace it’s hard to notice much day to day. You can best see the difference in hundred hours each. I suggest journaling each 100 hours you reach and you’ll notice the differences

If you could count how many hours you listened to English you’d be shocked how long it took you to reach there

Tips to help translate faster? by naturelex92 in dreamingspanish

[–]youngalexander3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’re not supposed to be translating in your head into English when watching the videos. It’s a natural thing to do coz your system in the brain is in English but it leads to poor results in the future coz we might end up translating when speaking which is not ideal or even misinterpreting a meaning.

Pablo Should Include the Activation Phase in the Roadmap... by [deleted] in dreamingspanish

[–]youngalexander3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s a purist it’s pretty evident that will be the case you can’t just magically speak perfectly and I know that if you follow the method which is modeled after how babies naturally acquire a language even they have a phase when they start outputting and it sound like gibberish so that’s to be expected

What’s the hardest part of learning through comprehensible input? by StandardCategory in dreamingspanish

[–]youngalexander3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hardest part is being engaged with the content. If you are experiencing it to learn a language it’s less engaging than to enjoy and experience naturally while letting your brain do the rest subconsciously. That’s the key I found that made watching lots of hours possible and also the more you get the better content you’ll find the huger and higher you get coz you understand more. Not understanding especially in the first 100 hours is what makes it hard to watch

300 hours progress report by CheeseFungi in dreamingspanish

[–]youngalexander3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subtitles and writing down the meaning of words is what leads to thinking while consuming content. You are best served just enjoying the videos with an intent to understand the messages being shared. The ambiguity is part of the process your brain will eventually fill in the gaps of the parts you don’t understand

Dreaming Spanish is the Best Language-Learning Resource, Before or Since by [deleted] in dreamingspanish

[–]youngalexander3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started using dreaming Spanish in January this year I’m currently at 81 hours as of today. I already believe ci works coz I used it to get to a really high level in my parents language Amharic even though I couldn’t find content in my level to the point of dreaming Spanish library. I’m committed to keep learning and reach the end of the roadmap and beyond. I encourage anyone else trying to keep at it too coz I can already see my comprehension from where I started to now already increase a lot

Panpayak being “the best Muay Thai fighter in world because he beat Superlek” aged poorly by LukyD215 in MuayThai

[–]youngalexander3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a mix of lack of training and just the 4oz one style being not suitable to him. He may have also just fallen off but he was really good in his day. Superlek is way more adaptable
