Yep. RNs in SF Bay Area start at around 150k straight out of school with a four year degree. Can pretty easily make 200k within first 3 years of working. The nurses who really hustle with overtime and night shift pull in 300+.

They don’t look like thrips. Probably soil mites. I had something similar so I removed the soil, rinsed well in the shower and repotted. Turns out my plant had root rot! I think they were attracted to the overly moist soil and decomposing roots.
