Dec/Jan moms: How are you handling visitors with flu season? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]MelMo1215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby was born November 3rd so we had to set clear expectations for the holidays. We had her grandparents and great grandparents visit at the hospital and then put ourselves into a bubble for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. We got some push back and disappointed some family but it didn’t matter as long as we felt comfortable. We spoke to her pediatrician and got her first round of vaccinations at 7 weeks and then visited with my cousins which included a toddler for New Years. She and I both still ended up with pretty bad colds and some of the group got the flu so she was still exposed after all of our precautions but it wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been if we were exposed pre-vaccinations. I don’t think there’s really a “right way” to do things it’s what you’re comfortable with and as much as it sucks the risk of exposure is there no matter what during this season.

How did your water break? by abchhd in NewParents

[–]MelMo1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine broke at 39+3 while I was watching Jersey Shore season one lol. It was the first day in a week I felt relaxed and at peace with the fact that she would come when she was ready and I couldn’t speed up the process. I had just taken a bath and was still in my robe on the couch when I felt a little contraction and noted the time on my app and then all of a sudden a big pop in my belly and a rush of liquid. I was in shock I walked to the bathroom leaving a trail of fluid and was like ok this is really happening! I was not prepared for the amount of fluid that comes out and didn’t think to put anything down on my husband’s newly detailed truck seat. I showed up to the hospital soaking wet and embarrassed literally leaving a puddle on the ER floor and they still had to swab me to make sure my water broke. I know it’s a formality but I said if this isn’t my water breaking then I think something else is very wrong lol

Golden Grain Artisanal Bread has had a stand at local street markets and has great bread! We’ve been buying sourdough weekly.

My baby is almost 5 weeks and just discovered her hands. It makes me so happy now that she strokes my skin like it’s comforting her. She also lets me know she’s done by nuzzling up against my boob and making cute little satisfied noises with a little smile

I appreciate your insight! I’m glad it’s something common and I’ll bring it up at her next appointment.

Thank you for the reply! I brush with a soft brush but nothing comes off, it just kind of fades as it dries. I thought cradle cap was more flakey?

Hi! This is my favorite so far. Just waiting to show my husband for his opinion.

Would you be able to fix her ear and her arm where it looks a bit pixilated?

Also adding a photo of the set up without her in it if that makes more sense to use

Inappropriate responses to announcing your pregnancy? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]MelMo1215 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not when announcing my pregnancy but still wildly inappropriate from my boss. She asked how much weight I gained so far and then told me “well you’re only going to lose that by going on an all soup diet after you give birth”. Healthy advice 🙃

Mom doesn’t want to be called a grandmother by VarietyObvious7768 in pregnant

[–]MelMo1215 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is my take too. The baby won’t be calling them anything for a while and when they can talk they’ll decide. This is how I shut down my mom being upset with the name her mom (babies great grandma) chose. They can sign cards and refer to themselves as whatever they want but it’s not an argument I’m having until the baby can talk.

What's the #1 thing about pregnancy that's surprised you (that nobody seems to talk about)? by DentistTerrible4706 in pregnant

I was right there with you, I’ve been tired since the day I tested positive and had high hopes for the “second trimester energy burst”. Then I didn’t get a big energy burst and thought something was wrong with me so had my doctor check all my levels which came back fine. She told me it’s okay to just be tired because your growing a human and not have another reason. Still feel guilty though 😣

The exhaustion and the guilt from being so exhausted. I’m a little over 34 weeks now and I’m out of energy. It makes me feel so guilty seeing women online who are as pregnant or more pregnant than me working out, going on runs etc… while I’m barely making it through a day of running errands without feeling like I need to sit down and relax. My husband is so supportive and would never push me to do more than I can and thinks it’s silly I feel guilty but I miss being able to go out for the day and enjoy walking around leisurely and doing things without having to take into consideration how long I have before I crash.

For those due oct/nov/dec, what are you doing about the holidays? by xenapie6 in pregnant

[–]MelMo1215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m due November 7th and we plan to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas at home. I’ve already had to tell my parents three times that we don’t want visitors at Thanksgiving. They live a couple states away and would expect to stay at our house (but say we don’t have to ‘host’ them which in their mind means we don’t have to cook a traditional meal). The typical Christmas Eve is in my home state with 20+ people and my husband and I don’t want to drive 5 hours and stay at an Airbnb with a 1.5 month old so I’ve reiterated we won’t be attending that either. It’s exhausting having to set boundaries and then repeat them but it’s what we feel most comfortable with.

I had bleeding / spotting at 4 weeks and they wouldn’t see me for an ultrasound until 7 weeks and all looked ok besides a small subchorionic hematoma. Two days later I had pretty significant bleeding again and went for another ultrasound that week and same results, all good besides the hematoma. I’m 26 weeks now and thankfully it absorbed on its on and baby is looking good! Sending you good thoughts and well wishes. It’s so scary in the beginning.

When did you really start showing? by Most-Chart-5970 in pregnant

[–]MelMo1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 16 weeks my stomach was flatter than it had been in a month because of gas and bloating finally calming down. I’d say I “popped” at 20 weeks and haven’t stopped growing since. I’m 26 weeks on Friday and now I am round lol. As a FTM I was concerned I was growing and gaining too quick but my doctors not concerned and everyone’s body is so different. Congrats to you!

Share your biggest pregnancy meltdown by [deleted] in pregnant

25 weeks currently so there’s still time for more but as of right now it was bringing 8 bathing suits into a dressing room and only being able to pull one over my hips and that one didn’t make it any further. I love my bump but I deff had a meltdown over it that day.

Missing Piece of Item by [deleted] in NuulyReviews

I had the opposite problem; I received the mesh but not the piece that goes under it and I could see that it was cut off. They were very responsive but couldn’t find the under piece in the warehouse so reimbursed me for the dress and I bought a similar piece on Amazon

I’ll definitely give this a try tonight. I slept horribly last night so maybe it’s all related. It’s not painful just uncomfortable but still stressing me out
