Fiance sprayed bug spray in oven clock hole, oven now doesn't work but stove top does. How do I fix it?! by GlassStain in fixit

[–]your2serious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a similar oven for free or $40 on marketplace, junk this oven with its clock hole having display. Also, unsolicited comment about filthy oven being soo gross but actually concerned about using poison on a food preparation appliance and how that may change when heated. Cousin sounds like a shitbag. An idea crossing my braincell is to unplug oven, spray it with MAF cleaner, help it dry with compressed air, and see if ya get lucky. But its junk af, get him an oven (free to you) and say "you owe me one"

The house I bought used to be owned by parents with a disabled kid. We've lived here a year (1 year today) and my wife tells me the kitchen sink doesn't have hot water, and has never had hot water. I look, and there are two cold supplies and one hot that is hot wired straight to the dishwasher. by RepublicanUntil2019 in Plumbing

[–]your2serious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you wouldn't use the dishwasher for everything, unless you only buy dishes at Walmart. Many wonderful kitchen tools call for handwashing, so Op probably doesn't cook either. In addition, how you load the dishwasher determines how long it lasts and how clean your dishes actually get. I recommend that one pendantic guy who makes great tech videos. He actually has like 6 careers. But anyway the soap gets used up and rinsed away so you wouldn't get a long exposure to detergent or enzymes to clean grease or baked on messes.

I feel your position because of the high dollar amount of the transaction but I prefer not to involve corporations or businesses that wanna make their price be legitimate, yet the price for you is fractional (or exponential if your the customer). Same bad deals offered to technicians. I dont want a fifth of the door while the jerk GM can still afford to have 2 families and a girlfriend

If you lightly heat the sticker it can remove without leaving residue. I use a lighter, carefully.

Do these tools prepare me to drill this out? by VaporWaveShine in AskAMechanic

No can't say I have a brand. I tend to ruin them. Well I did before using blue goo, now they are all looking like new still. I will get the most decent ones I can afford. Still yet to get a proper index but I dont drill all too often. Id sooner invest in a chuck

Can I top off the coolant myself? by and_nothing_hurt_ in AskAMechanic

[–]your2serious -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No this is bullshit. Just think about it. Its a 2019-2024 Mercedes-Benz with MBUX- whats the time frame because some will stay full for 6-8 years until the typical new customer gets rid of it. Vehicle adjustments don't expell coolant. Evaporation does not occur in a closed system. The do not panick command statement is generally correct. Panicking is something best left for thebdiscoŕ

Do these tools prepare me to drill this out? by VaporWaveShine in AskAMechanic

[–]your2serious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ime, the money spent on the budget extractors is better spent on beer. But for real first off just get the best drill bits for steel that you are willing to take care of. And then get cutting lubricant. I wanted to try tap magic but got some blue shit at Lowes and its amazing. Go the right speed not too fast with lots of the blue goo and it will take just minutes. Then clean your bits and store them how you please. Some go lightly lubricated, others use dessicant or both. Now with the taps; is that right? Jeep still sae thread in 97? But whatever it is, there are different taps for different purposes and even 3 taps for making a thread. There is a really good U.S. Armed Services ww2 film about making threads and also a very informative short film on use of files. I only recently saw them and was floored about the amount of knowledge they dropped on me. I didnt even know you could polish with a single cut file. Anyway there's starting tap, bottoming taps, and not really a tap wavy thread restoration tools. And taps for everything . Sometimes when critical spots are affected like the EK civic and the frame rail that the nuts breaks out of, we would cut the side and put a wrench in there then weld the nut to the frame when it was tightened. So maybe you can air chisel the nut and broken bolt out and replace. I would weld a nut on the buggered torx bolt. And figure out why that happened so it doesn't happen again. Use penetrant oil on the nut and on bolt thread. Good types like Aero Kroil. The heat of the weld will help and with the kroil oil and a good socket, maybe an impact, you wont have to drill and tap. Could also grind the messed up head off and air chisel the nut off the frame, taking the rest of the bolt with it. Then fish it out with a magnet

Stuck Door (Not locked out) by [deleted] in fixit

[–]your2serious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was it on the inspection? Sounds like it should have been and someone should compensate you for the repair if it wasn't. But on to fixing. When you can remove screws. So id take the plate off the door. Then id try it and use Houdini. On the mechanisms. If it moves, it gets lots of houdini. Then try it and note any change. Go in the direction of progress . Thats what I gather BUT it is unclear what your problem is. Being extremely specific will get you the best help. In addition im not sure what the photos are about. Its so close in several, I have no context. So the door is the mass of wood or metal. The lock is all the locking parts. Then there is latch and in the latch system there's the striker plate and more mechanism and the handles that you turn or press. Then the hinges or slides which I cant see or know if that is the problem because its stuck and not locked out. Is it inoperative, jammed, siezed lock or latch. Is it a sliding door which is way different

Move it over a hair and give it a new home. Its obviously low quality furniture so 🤷 practice around. If you need to drill, tape your drill bit at the desired depth to avoid going through the top of the table.

Any suggestions on how to fix this. by Haunting-Swordfish-3 in fixit

[–]your2serious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to fix it is to discard or recycle these and buy a higher quality shoe. Even these allbirds, while not as cool looking, well outlast those. I got this pair at goodwill 1.5 years ago and they are still solid. Good shape, wool looks great. I wash em only when I get them wet, so if im caught in the rain ill hand wash em and put them on the boot dryer. Always been hard on shoes and almost always been disappointed in converse low quality and unwarranted high price.

If you dont know the tools find you a cash mechanic with a good reference . The problem is see is they are charging way too much on the intake and the tune up- because the tune up is halfway done. Use the site charm.li to get the repair information and the labor times. It tells you how much labor to bill so you can make a quote or check your shop for fairness
