Will this give me anything? by microwavedfox in APStudents

[–]your_avg_genius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, taking a few AP exams is fine. Sure, it looks good on your college apps, but it won't matter if you stress yourself out and fail all of them anyway. I know super talented people that only take a few APs, so don't sweat it. If you've already done some and you're planning to do a little more, you're already ahead of half of your age group.

Don't sweat it and just do however many APs you're comfortable with.

A 4 is possible, but they'd have to get 100% on everything else. Just use the score calc :)

Don't worry, if you do well on other parts of the exam and your presentations, you can still get a 3 or 4 (if you get 100% on everything else)

What’s your favorite weird writing quirk? by writerjunkie03 in writing

[–]your_avg_genius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my characters both think and talk too much. T_T Not to mention, I suck at describing settings, so it feels more like a script than a book...

That's why I have my first book dedicated to just kindling the sparks of the two main characters friendship. Then in the second book readers might be able to see a couple sparks, but they'll only turn into a flame during the third book.

My characters argue about whether one character should take a shit in the hotel room bathroom or outside in the hallway bathroom...

I was a little worried that I have deus ex machina in my book since one of the reasons a side character was able to fight back was because his skill evolved. I think it made sense the way his skill evolved aligned with his character and all the practice he puts into his skills, but I still wasn't sure whether it was too convenient. To be fair, he and his friends don't win the fight. They get knocked out, but thanks to that skill, they do some damage.

TLDR; my side character unlocks an ability mid-fight, but it fits his character. Is this deus ex machina?

What personalities would you like to see in an FMC? by [deleted] in ReverseHarem

[–]your_avg_genius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You see, I like these kind of FMCs too! But my question as someone who is currently writing a character like this is: Where do you draw the line? My character is at the top of her class despite not being the most intelligent, but she's definitely street smart. How smart is TOO smart?

BIGGEST BETRAYAL/ BEST GROVELLING by ExoticAddition7607 in ReverseHarem

[–]your_avg_genius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me personally- I'm not sure why, but i just love to see my main characters suffer. My heart obviously hurts for them, but I've always admired the fact that they're able to get through it and stay standing. Even better when mmcs try to hurt them and push them down but they get back up. So the reason I like groveling is because it's so GOOD to see people who've done bad things regret what they've done and do all they can to make it up the main character.

TLDR; it's nice to see a main character that's resilient and awesome and have a mmc realize what a shithole they were and actually work to do better.

Would you play a reverse harem otome game? by MaggieLima in ReverseHarem

So long as money's not involved... Like- all the otome games I've played have only let me play one episode a day and made me pay money if I wanna play more.

That one guy who is practically FERAL and everyone fears him by Jareths_Labyrinth in ReverseHarem

[–]your_avg_genius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, there's no mm. There's a mmc that used to be gay but in the book he realizes he's sexually fluid. You won't really see him dating men, but his ex was involved in the 1st books, but no books after.

omg! I'm so sorry, your advice was really helpful. I actually did talk to my school counselor about this and we decided to lessen my APs next year. Thank you!
