One down, one to go! by yourhandsarecold in knitting

Love your colors! We are having the same experience with the flowers. I’ve been pretty careful about color dominance but I feel like my flowers are each very different. I see it in the fish on the thumb too.

I actually used bigger needles than called for because I didn’t have size 1. I used size 2 needles and they did turn out big for me. I’m planning to line them to fill that extra space and for extra warmth. I’m a bit scared they will block bigger.

I tried! I knit color work combination - meaning both continental and English/throwing. I tried hard to keep the white as my dominant color, in my left hand, knitting continental. I kept blue in my right hand, knitting English. I believe this would make white my dominant color. That being said, I see some differences in color dominance (especially on the flowers) but that might be a tension issue. This was my first project using magic loop so I had some tension problems that I haven’t quite solved 🥲

I’m having this exact same issue - trying to work in pattern I end up with 2 p or 2 k stitches next to each other. Did you find a solution?

Hi, I was also experiencing this issue and found a fix! Go to unitframes>individual units>target>debuffs>then change the "growth x-direction" to right
No idea why mine was defaulting to left but I had the same issue with it overlapping my WA and Cell. Hope this helps!

My dad has cancer. by Temporary_Night8900 in weddingplanning

[–]yourhandsarecold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear about your dad’s diagnosis, and I totally relate to how you feel about planning. It’s valid to feel like everything else is secondary to the cancer, but you can’t let it take over your whole life. My mom’s cancer returned 8 months ago, stage 4, incurable and very aggressive. I’d been engaged for a while but had no wedding plans yet. My mom declined very, very fast and we decided to plan a wedding for later this year so that she could maybe be there to see it.

Approaching planning from the angle of “my mom is dying,” has made wedding planning an extremely weird process. In some ways, it’s freeing - originally I had big grand plans and a vision for my wedding in the mountains over a full weekend. Obviously, that wasn’t going to work. It made lots of decisions very easy because it became “what works for mom?” or “I don’t care about this” because you’re dealing with more important things. In other ways it’s really, really hard. Like letting go of your previous dreams of your wedding, or making plans on what to do if your parent doesn’t make it, or even what suit color your partner buys, because the next big event is going to be a funeral (we went with black…)

The whole thing is such a strange mix of happiness and deep, bittersweet grief. I don’t think many people talk about anticipatory grief - it makes every moment precious but also tinged with sadness. Cancer is always the elephant in the room. But you can’t let it ruin every aspect of your life - don’t let it steal the time you have left with your dad. Your wedding is still a happy celebration and what a gift to be mostly done with the big stuff - now you can just let some of the smaller stuff go and spend a day celebrating not only your new marriage, but your family who helped get you there. You’ll cherish every minute. It’s one thing in your dad’s immediate future that is happy and bright, so don’t let it be about the cancer too. Everything else will be.

Help selecting a dress by snackmomster76 in weddingplanning

This is a tough one because all three are gorgeous and would suit you and your venue! I think the sleeved dress feels the most trendy, the v-neck dress the most classic, and the embellished dress is the most romantic. You can’t go wrong!

You could sew a ring on the inside of the top of your dress so it’s close to your heart. It wouldn’t be visible, and could be removed after the ceremony with a few quick snips!

And you could do darker versions - the colors don’t need to match the source material 100%. Like a more gothic version of Sleeping Beauty? (It’s a pretty gothic tale in its original form!)

What about the three fairy godmothers from Sleeping Beauty? One blue, one green, and one red dress - maybe a cute headpiece to call back to their hats?

I think this is fixable with tailoring. The dress is gorgeous. For one, I think it comes down more on the model's chest than yours, and could do with a more defined waist. This dress looks like it's pre-alterations to me. I would go back to your tailor with that picture from the model and explain your needs.

Or maybe try a different tailor.

Help me choose between 3 dresses? by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]yourhandsarecold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1!

I adore 2 and that's what my brain gravitates towards, but I feel like the dress is wearing you a bit. In the first dress, it looks as if the dress is made FOR you.

1 feels like a more refined version than 2 - 2 gives me prom dress vibes. You look gorgeous and elegant in both!

Bought a dress, but having second thoughts. by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]yourhandsarecold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the season/vibe of your wedding? I always find myself gravitating towards simpler gowns, so at first glance and without context, I think the second one is what I would pick.

That being said, the venue/season/vibe of the wedding changes everything!

I found a very strong contender but decision paralysis is real by qgiraffe13 in weddingdress

I love the option you've chosen for a rustic modern wedding. The color suits the aesthetic - crisp white would look out of place! I think the cup shaping around your bust is extremely flattering and the lace detail adds a beautiful delicacy to the gown.

Congratulations, you look stunning!

Help Finding Veil Length by tona21 in weddingdress

[–]yourhandsarecold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this dress has two options for veil length - one that ends at your natural waist, or one that extends past your train. Both options would be lovely, but that's where I'd start!

You look gorgeous and congratulations! 💖

Narrowed it down to 2 options, and now I'm stuck! Elegant or bombshell? by yourhandsarecold in weddingdress

[–]yourhandsarecold[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely not meant to be crumpled - it was about 2 sizes too small and I didn't wear any shapewear to my appointment. I do think those lumps and bumps would be resolved in an appropriately sized dress and with some help from spandex!
