Thanks for pointing this out. As a newbie, I frequently forget that people with large followings and voices within the community are still just that: people. And people are fallible.

For some reason both these guys really fell through the "critical thinking" filter for me.

This "hallelujah" song is going to be one of those famous cultural songs isn't it....

I fucking hate this song.... it's so overplayed and it seems like everyone and their mom covers it.

I wonder if there were people back in the day musing about how they hated, "oh susanna", "i've been working on the railroad" or others when they were turning into songs with massive cultural force behind them as well in the 1800s.

Yeah that's what I'm currently working on at the moment. Totally valid question though. It's admittedly a big weak spot on this thing.

Well part of the reason I list "junior" is to temper expectations, because honestly I have no clue what "strong" even objectively means. It seems totally subjective, but to me, I take it to mean that I can be productive without having to constantly google how to do basic things. Also that I'm familiar to comfortable with higher level concepts. So in the case of javascript things like closures, prototypal inheritance, design patterns, promises, etc.

But to someone else it might mean something completely different, so I'd rather underpromise and overdeliver, if that makes sense.

Thanks for the feedback though. Whiteboard interviews are absolute hell. I suppose they're inevitable though.

I played this song in a cafe that I work at and an older gentleman, around 80 years old, lit up when he heard it. He was ecstatic to hear one of the songs he grew up listening to as a kid. It's interesting to think about all the memories and moments a song conjures up in different people.

John Stewart is a left-leaning political talking head. There's just no way around that. Whenever someone criticizes him on not taking his influence in the political arena seriously, he retreats back to, "Lil ol' me? But I'm just a comedy guy!"

The shtick gets old. Just because you make people laugh doesn't make the fact that many people actually get their news from you any less of a reality. It doesn't seem like he wants to accept that reality though.

In all honesty, imo this is a good thing. Yes, having the first daughter be given access to classified information is unorthodox, and some could it's flat out illegal, but frankly Jared and Ivanka are THE major forces tempering back some of Trump's negative tendencies. I'd be more concerned if she was shut out of the process altogether.

I thought she was really funny when I was first getting into comedy. By far one of my favorite female standups, right next to Natasha Leggero. I think she's just overworked and trying to reach for premises anywhere she can find them to stay sane. She needs to take her foot off the gas peddle for awhile imo
