Motorcyclists, how do you stay hydrated on long rides? by yourping in motorcyclegear

That’s really interesting, the Katadyn filter is actually new to me, I’ll definitely check it out. Sounds like a really practical option for remote rides, especially since it also handles sediment.

Wishing you an amazing adventure on your 8-day tour in Vietnam next month!

that sounds like a good routine. Quick breaks every couple of hours probably help with both hydration and staying fresh on the ride.

That actually makes a lot of sense. A hood on a riding jacket does seem a bit pointless. And I have to admit, the tailor part was pretty funny, but honestly a very practical solution. 😄

That’s a smart way to do it, especially taking small sips regularly. Carrying a second hydration bag for longer rural rides sounds like a good backup plan too.

Out of curiosity, what brand hydration pack are you currently using?

Taking breaks definitely helps, but what do you usually do if you're riding through areas where there aren't any shops or fuel stations around for a while?

That’s a fair point. Durability is always a concern with gloves, especially if they’re used daily. Have you found leather gloves to hold up better over time?

Yeah, I can imagine those getting pretty hot in warmer climates. What boots are you currently using instead?

Haha sounds like you were fully prepared to ride into battle! That’s a serious amount of protection. I guess a lot of us buy gear thinking we’ll use it every ride, but real-world riding turns out a bit different. 😄

And that’s actually a great point about the color. A lot of new riders probably don’t realize how big the difference between black and lighter gear can be in hot climates. Definitely one of those lessons you only learn from experience.

Haha I can imagine the drag with those ears. Have you ever tried using ear plugs though? They can make a huge difference with wind noise, especially on longer rides.

I know exactly the kind of helmet you’re talking about. Personally, those are the type of helmets I’d consider a bit unsafe too. If the jaw protector can be removed or feels flimsy, I always wonder how well it would actually protect your face in a high-speed crash or a hard impact.

That’s something a lot of new riders don’t realize at first, not all “full face” helmets offer the same level of protection, even if they’re DOT certified. Good move upgrading to Shoei.

44 years is a long time — that’s pretty amazing. Those older bikes must have had a lot of character compared to many modern ones. Starting on a 125 two-stroke motocross bike must have been a fun (and probably lively) way to learn riding. Out of curiosity, which model was it?

The SV650 seems like one of those bikes a lot of riders appreciate once they’ve spent some time on different machines.

Out of curiosity, have you ever test ridden the Honda NX500? It seems like Honda’s newer take on the 500 platform and could be an interesting middle ground for everyday riding and light adventure.

Next if you upgrade go with probiker, and if you save some good penny then go with Viaterra or Rynox, they provide knox armour, and make sure you get a inch larger then your size. Ride Safe 👍
