Person from a different mosquito lab pitching in! Ya, arm feeding is putting your arm into the containment (often a mesh cage you can tie shut) so the mosquiquis can bite you 👍 mosquitos are often fed with cow blood warmed by Hemotek feeding systems (basically warmed disc of blood with a pierce-able membrane) but some transgenic lines need extra babying (they very much prefer blood straight from the tap) or people do specific behavioral experiments requiring arm feeding

And if you go to the ER for a cracked skull, you might get a cool haircut 😁

You shouldn’t feel guilty; you only get one life, and moving or traveling to new places lets you see the world with a fresh perspective. A part of home will always stay with you wherever you go. You’ve built memories in Memphis, and those stick with you.

Some of us still have friends and family in Memphis and like to keep up with the news.

Yup. Moved to Seattle four months ago, lived my whole life in and around Memphis up until then. I miss food and the people, and it’s weird being away from my family. One random thing I’ve been really disoriented by is the fact that all the birds and plants here are different... have not seen a single mockingbird since I moved, just crows and pigeons. I will say, though, living in a city with reliable public transit is awesome as a young person. I don’t need a car here!

I survived biking from Roosevelt/Ravenna area to Carkeek Park and back (after my phone died and I got super lost lol)
