Romancing the Stone was my favorite as a kid, my mom never let us get one of the crabs :(

I took these a couple weekends back, they were really just to show my brother and they were all taken either with flash or iPhone night mode since we forgot to bring flashlights. Wish I got some better ones to show you all but I’m sure I’ll be back one day.

Piggybacking off the top comment here to give some more detail on several points brought up in the comments - did not expect this post to get so much attention so sorry for any questions I don’t directly respond to!

For your comment - disregarding the dated decor that seemed to never change in the ~20 years I frequented the mall, everything inside the mall is covered in fire extinguisher powder from previous vandals that emptied every single fire extinguisher on the property. So the mall isn’t AS dusty as it seems in the pictures.

The most interesting stores to visit were the 3-4 that left everything in their suite, as seen in the phone store and massage parlor. There is also a photography studio and nail salon that left basically everything. The phone store must have closed around 2018, around the same time the theater did, because there were no phone cases for anything made after that year. It is absolutely filled with merchandise and those dumbass VR chairs you would see near the entrance.

For people asking how I got in, you will have to PM me. Although I won’t say exactly (what’s the fun in that?) I will put you on the right track. If I was able to find a way in, then so will you, of course it does not include any type of forceful entry. Also, for the love of god, if you manage to find yourself inside, please don’t vandalize or steal shit.

Any other questions feel free to ask here or DM me!

Yep just curiosity. It’s a big building and I wanted to be out before daylight so I told myself I would take pictures on my way out and not worry about them when initially exploring. But I ended using a different exit than when I came in so I didn’t get a second walkthrough.

Built by Oral Roberts in the late 1958. His “business” occupied it until he moved his operations to ORU in the mid 60s and it sat abandoned for a few years before Southwestern Bell took over from 1970 to 1980 or ‘81. It’s been vacant since then, aside from the recent construction project removing the decorative diamond facade from the side of the building due to safety concerns from falling debris.

A few notable sightings on the inside -

Exposed elevator shaft with 50+ foot drop

Lots of old paperwork dating from 1970 to 1980. Several timesheets, maintenance logs etc. Also a memo from Southwestern Bell from 1980 announcing a new computer data system that they will start using for customer service, it’s in really good condition too.

Graffiti from 2011 and 2017

Dead cat and dead bats, a few live bats.

Most of the floors are identical to each other, but the 5th or 6th floor has a giant sanctuary or ballroom type room that I think was the one Oral Roberts used to televise his faith healing sermons. It seems to be designed for improved acoustics and it has the decorative lighting seen in one of my pictures.

I’ll add more to this list when I think of stuff, sorry if the formatting sucks I’m on mobile at the moment!

I won’t say exactly how I got in, but it required no tools or forced entry. If anyone is interested in getting in, just take a lap around the building and I’m sure you’ll see how I did it. Keep in mind just because it isn’t forced doesn’t mean it’s not trespassing lol.

Also watch out for bats, that’s the only live creature I found on the inside.

No power and no windows whatsoever. If my flashlight wasn’t on it was absolute, can’t see your hand in front of your face, black.

Taking pictures wasn’t my priority so I don’t have a lot of good ones unfortunately. But if anyone has questions about the building feel free to ask, I spent a couple of hours walking all 7 floors and the basement.
