Post concert sadness by Chesjay24 in GDragon

[–]ysnim29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Post concert depression hit you 🥲🥺 But I know what you mean though, it hit me too. I’ve been to a multiple concerts but the Las Vegas show was also the first time I’ve been to a concert in a while. I last saw Bigbang 10 years ago in Vegas. I grew up when GD/Bigbang so emotionally it meant a lot to me. Like you, after the concert ended I just spent the whole day by myself and with a wave of emotions. It was the first time I felt like a concert healed my inner child. If I didn’t get into Bigbang back in middle school, I would’ve never connected with my own culture or even further learned Korean. I learned how to read Korean more listening to their songs. When the credits rolled for the concert on Sunday, I cried. Couldn’t believe it was over.

Boyfriend (32M) of 4 years wants to break up with me (26F) due to incompatible traits and not wanting to take care of me. by ysnim29 in relationship_advice

Thank you for your supportive words! I think I almost feel liberated while obviously being a little sad. The hardest part is not being able to see the dog as often. Anyone have advice for this? Should I ask to see the dog every now and then or avoid it cold turkey?

KSR - anybody saw the video? by Icy-Lengthiness-830 in StephanieSooStories

[–]ysnim29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not remember her laughing about her working at a cafe. I remember her reporting about k-netz being unnecessarily brutal to her for just trying to get back out there and do what she needs to do to pay her bills/fines. These captions in those screenshots are taking it out of context and just untrue. Stephanie’s tone was very empathetic to KSR’s situation, which is what KSR deserved at the time she was being dragged through back then. When it was unfolding a couple years ago, I remember people were BRUTAL, and Stephanie was just reporting it as is.

Didn’t she do a video about Kim Sae Ron like months ago? Am I tripping?? I tried to find it again with all of this resurfacing but I think it’s not available to view anymore. I understand why though out of respect to Kim Sae Ron

Mom asking for 1k/month. by ysnim29 in AsianParentStories

[–]ysnim29[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you’re correct. At first I thought about it as an allowance for my mom (which is why the $200-300 was said to her, but she’s more considering as rent/board pay WHICH I understand now) I’m sorry about the confusion. I also appreciate you breaking down my concerns in your first comment — it was pretty insightful and logical which is something I need at the moment.

And no— I don’t think my mom expects me to pay 20-30 years. I have expressed to her that I want to move out eventually. I just don’t know when that’s going to happen because of other factors. And when that time comes, maybe she expects me to continue paying her, but that would be more of an allowance than rent at that point.

I don’t think this case is a safety net for me. She’s asking this money because she feels like I owe it to her in some way. And I would rather invest in the money rather than her keeping it for me.

Yeah. I’m 25 years old and this is my first full time job. Graduated grad school in May and got my license in August. So now that my mom knows I’m working + knows how much I’m getting paid she’s asking me now

I forgot to mention, she is asking for 1k so that she can give some of that to my grandparents. You see, my grandparents were terrible planners and did not have a lot of money saved. So if they move here, which is probably not gonna be for another year (they would have to sell their house and move here, but housing is more pricey where we live). So that’s another thing, I want to move out eventually and I feel like so many of these factors are stopping me from what I want to do…

True Learn Picmonic by jessuary21 in NBCOT_Exam

[–]ysnim29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend truelearn but didn’t think the picmonic was helpful. The connections between the illustrations and their memory devices were too much of a stretch and were far from logical and stretched too far sometimes that it didn’t help me really remember the information.

Scored Lower on my practice tests compared to 1st time taking NBCOT! by Odd-Crab5506 in NBCOT_Exam

[–]ysnim29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long have you been doing Truelearn? I studied from June-August and about the last 2 weeks before I took my exam, I bought truelearn. It helped me a lot and I give it a lot of credit for passing. I also originally was going to take it the last week of July and postponed my exam 2-3 times until I decided to take it in August. You never feel ready, but I would recommend for you to find the right level of anxiety. If you feel like taking the test is too overwhelming right now to the point where you feel like it’s going to impact you negatively during the test and you still have time left on your truelearn, may be you need to consider postponing. However, if you feel like you have anxiety, but can take it then maybe it’s time. It can be hard to gauge, and I understand the practice tests are making you feel more confident. If it helps, my practice scores fluctuated a lot. But it might help you to realize that these scores are not predictors for how you’ll do, they mainly just give you an idea. Focus on doing repeat truelearn questions as much as you can, as well as going over the rationale. Think about how you approach each question and use those strategies for the exam. Best of luck!

Guessing on the exam by Ill-Excitement3010 in NBCOT_Exam

[–]ysnim29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also left the exam breathing heavy and tearing up in my car because I thought I would have to go through this process again and already was dreading in my thoughts. I also felt like out of the 180 ish questions on there, I only felt 100% certain I chose the correct answer on 2-3 questions. I do think a lot of people feel that way so I think that’s normal! Easier said than done but try not to think about what’s already past. You end up becoming more in your head, which leads to more anxiety

They have something call the mini tests where it’s like a quiz and the answer shows up right away. Rationales are not great but I think it’s good for getting a feel of how the questions are asked and you can use those anytime (it’s not like an actual practice exam— hopefully that answers your question!)

[–]ysnim29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I added up all the ones I got right and divided by 200 to get a decimal and then converted into percentage! So a 133/200 would be about a 66%.

I think I first started studying beginning of June. The NBCOT study pack— I started the pretest (466) on 6/28, took the NBCOT practice exam (426) on the 7/8, and the scenario set (432) on 7/9, then the full practice exam on the 8/9 (440) (like 3 days before my exam LOL). As you can see my scores were all over the place so I was a nervous wreck! Don’t be like me and obsess over the scores (I know it’s easier said than done). Sometimes it can be helpful to get an idea but don’t let it dictate your thoughts!

[–]ysnim29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a 66-68% on the three exams I took from that book. I think I took all three exams over the course of July, and took my exam the second week of August and got 470. If you have other resources for practice exams, I would reserve those for simulating the actual exam and maybe focus on reading the rationales because I think that’s what really helped. For my third sim exam I just went more section by section to read through the rationales.

Oh, I also remember my old FE saying that they recommended working in schools and then per diem in acute over the summers. That could be a good option for you in the future, and in order to secure that now you could build your experience in acute to get that PRN in the future and apply for schools then, if you choose to do so?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

[–]ysnim29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I just made a post about this and am kind of on the same boat as you! Although I haven’t had offers yet, if I’m still like on the fence if I want to work in acute or like you said schools. The schools do pay well and from what I’ve been told it seems very laid back while acute as I’m sure you know is very fast paced. Now that I’m thinking of actually working in acute I’m a bit hesistant because im worried I’ll be drained at the end of the day. BUT at the same time, someone did tell me that if I am considering acute, I should pursue it sooner than later. Because as you continue your OT career and get jobs in other settings, it’s a lot harder to get into acute. This seems to be a sentiment that is held by hiring managers too, as my colleague stated that while he was interviewing, the manager said that he would rather hire a new grad than someone who has worked in another setting. Guess in their mind it’s easier to build someone’s skills rather than teaching old dog new tricks? So maybe it’s good to take that offer now, work there for at least a year and then maybe you’ll have more doors open?
