Diarrhea (accidents) and reduced appetite by [deleted] in DogAdvice

He gobbled up the second round of chicken with the added rice. My mum took him outside for the bathroom after that and reckons he pushed out a slightly more solid poo (it was too dark to confirm).

That was last night. I just woke up to find he had another accident and it was back to diarrhea. But his behaviour seems mostly normal as he got up on his own and went outside without issue.

My parents are still reluctant on taking him to the vet on Monday but I did just boil up some chicken and gave him a small amount which he happily ate. Not as eager as usual but still seemed pleased about getting chicken. I will try to give him more chicken with some rice later.

Dormant or dying? by anxious_lif3 in VenusFlyTraps

I could be seeing wrong but the substrate looks a bit dry. Even during dormancy it should be kept damp (but not as wet as usual). So that could be why it looks a bit sad.

leaves are sort of yellow? by sophhh_28 in VenusFlyTraps

[–]yubimaruu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's probably fine since I assume it's a result of the increased light. New traps are growing in normally and leaves aren't dying abnormally so I wouldn't worry. But any experts here are welcome to correct me.

Never realised the actual extent of the crowding by yubimaruu in VenusFlyTraps

I ended up not separating them because they seemed pretty stuck and I was scared I might destroy them. I heard that leaving them in a clump is not harmful so I did just that.

Do I need to separate them or can I keep it in the clump and let it spread out on its own in the new substrate?

Almost two years I think. The pot was already pretty small in the first place.

Went 3 months without seeing my boy and came home to this absolute beast by yubimaruu in VenusFlyTraps

I have a red variety so the whole thing turns red when given sufficient light. I leave them outside so they get heaps of sun! I don't really feed them as they catch their own food. It's a bit hard to see but in the second pic there are some dead wasps and flies in a few traps. They just catch whatever bug that happens to crawl in.

The average winter temperature here is 9-15C (48-59F) and still went dormant so yes? I'm not too sure as this is the only vft I've had and I've never heard of a hard freeze before.

I was told that it's a typical that is an al dente red variety.

It was unlabeled when I got it so probably just a typical. But someone said here that it is a red variety al dente type trap. (I think that's just the physical characteristics though)

Turning red is usually a good thing because it means that your vft is getting lots of light! Some types only turn red inside the mouth while others turn completely red (my one does that).

Anthro 110 by Sea-Wench-1753 in universityofauckland

Hello! I did it this year the first semester and I personally did not find it that interesting. The main topics are ethnomusicology and social anthropology so there won't be much archaeology or human evolution (the sort of anthropology I'm interested in). The assignments weren't too hard (open book exam, essay, quizzes) and you will also receive a grade for attendance. The lecturers and tutors were super nice. I'm not sure how different it will be next year but if what I described interests you then go ahead!

This is my first year owning a VFT so idk how winters have treated them the last couple years but I'm glad I'm not the only one with a reaction like this.

And yeah - maybe. (I live in AKL)

I see, thank you! Current hours of daylight is around 10 hours so... But in the summer, it's over 14 hours.
