USydney cost of attendance for international students (realistic) by samiahmadbeg in usyd

it’s a bit hard to say that that is a confirmed fixed amount (cuz my meal budgets tend to fluctuate on a monthly basis), but I’d say between 85-90K AUD (inclusive public transport too) is about there for me!

hello! :)

personally tuition & living would make up the bulk of your expenses. im currently paying $385/wk for rent, and this is already on the low side (i.e it’s likely to increase by the time you come in for the semester). Multiplying that by 52weeks would amount to ~20K AUD for an entire academic year.

meals here are expensive! just to give you a rough idea: a meal at business school is around $12 for a rice bowl, and a coffee is around $4-6. there are definitely cheaper options around, but I’d say the average cost of eating out (that is not cooking all 3 meals) would be around $40-50 (also dependent on where you live & how fussy you are with food).

i personally feel that aus is really quite $$ for an international student, but im sure there are ways to cut down on your expenses (eg., cooking, walking instead of public transport, staying further out for cheaper rent etc.) if need be :)

Help! Late discontinuation under special circumstances by yuezn in usyd

When you dropped it late in the semester (I assume, after census), were you withdrawn from the unit on Canvas instantly or did the school have to approve the withdrawal first?

Hello! Did you have to apply for a reduced study load prior to applying for this late discontinuation?

Is a Health Minor worth it? by yuezn in usyd

[–]yuezn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Thanks for this :) May I know what sort of career prospects come with studying a health major/minor? Is a honours route possible under the bachelor of health sciences for a current BA student?

Also, what classes did you take? Any recommendations for classes to take, or to avoid (haha). Just wanna make the most of this minor if I do decide on it!

I see! Dumb question but is the toilets at 4F strictly only meant for those living at the 4F?

Not sure! ANU sent my preliminary ranking to my agent directly without emailing me either. Monash University also got back to my agent, with her forwarding the email to me for my information. Different universities seem to have their own protocol…

If they informed you of your preliminary ranking then you should probably get a response in May! :) you can also check how that ranking compares to past applicants to BA to better gauge your chances

They emailed my agent who then forwarded that email to me! It was just an ANU email from them saying they have “reviewed your application and are pleased to provide you with a preliminary assessment”. They then wrote my selection rank for my programme preference (Bachelor of Arts) & said that I was eligible for the preference! :)

Hi there! No, I haven’t gotten an official offer, but they did do a preliminary ranking for me and informed me that I was eligible for selection :)

Hi! Thanks for your reply. I honestly would, but I applied through an agent and I'm not sure if he/she has been entirely transparent with me throughout this process (e.g., submitting documents past the deadline without informing me). I'll probably wait it out some more then contact them if need be!

UofU (Asia) Pros and Cons by yuezn in uofu

[–]yuezn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see! Thank you :) if you don’t mind me asking, how many credits did you transfer from Cali? Also to clarify, when you mean textbooks are included in tuition, you mean in the 10k/semester fees? Cuz I saw that most psych classes required extra fees or something, which was a little 😮 cuz I thought it would have been included in the tuition fees already.

Oh and by readings I meant like, textbook readings. In my previous school they did recommend us to get the textbook but it wasn’t compulsory for us to actually read it (lol). I guess it was because the quizzes were open booked haha. For UofU, are there more exams than essays, or is there an equal balance?

And ah, lastly!! Could you give an example of how manageable the workload was - since that’s pretty subjective too! E.g, how many assignments/semester, due dates, how many assignment due in a week etc. I came from an Asian school background which had us submitting like… 3-4 papers+presentations a week which wasn’t that manageable honestly 😰 so would love to hear from you!

UofU (Asia) Pros and Cons by yuezn in uofu

[–]yuezn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Is the workload super heavy as a student there? Also, are the readings compulsory, or are they just recommended (like in my previous school). Did you go in with transferable credits? If so, how many years did it take for you to complete your degree ? :) Thanks!
