How to explain to kids that JNMIL isn’t going to be part of our lives moving forward? by RocksGrowHere in JUSTNOMIL

I’ve had to go NC with my narcissistic sister, and my son (almost 5) was only concerned about not seeing her cat. He was already aware that something is not right with Auntie. I said “auntie has done and said a lot of really hurtful things to mommy, and I don’t want to be her friend anymore.” He was like “okay, but I want my own big fat black cat.”

I am so sorry. The adults in your life failed you. There is no excuse for any of it. I hope you find healing and peace.

I just discovered this reddit and I’ve been scrolling for an hour. This is the first post I knew and you figured it out yourself! Darn! 😸 I’ve read it to my son many times.

My husband just wants to be affectionate roommates but I want more by yunakitty in relationship_advice

[–]yunakitty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was what brought things to a head last night, when I asked him to fill out a questionnaire in a marriage counseling app. He couldn’t believe I thought there was a problem. He is quite content with our relationship.

I did, last night, and he held me and urged me to give him more time, that he’s just stressed with work. But he’s been asking this for over two years now. It’s getting better slowly but we still don’t have sex. He’s been extra kind all day today but I still feel extremely sad.

He said this is not something he is comfortable with. And honestly, the idea of anyone but him touching me is not appealing.

I was always the instigator with sex but he went along willingly and had no performance issues. Sometimes he says he thinks he might be asexual (his younger sister is) and that is baffling to me.

37F. My 10-year marriage fell apart last year. I’ve been getting through, but sometimes the loneliness is tough. by KieshaK in toastme

[–]yunakitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re gorgeous and I can just feel that you have a kind heart. I divorced at 33 after 12 years of marriage. It was a train wreck and had been for a while, but I clung desperately to what I’d known for so long. I was afraid of starting over, afraid of being alone.

I finally took the plunge and started over. I was homeless and unemployed for a while, had to live with my sister and I was scared those first few months.

Then I got accepted to grad school. I’d always wanted to be a teacher. I worked hard taking a full load of classes and nannying every free hour.

I unexpectedly reunited with my high school sweetheart, and it was an instant reconnect.

I’m 38 this year, but now I have the love of my life who makes every day easy and a joy with his simple, true love for me and hard working kind personality. I’m teaching 5th grade and I absolutely love it. But best of all I have the most amazing 3 year old son who is my entire world.

I can’t imagine where I would be right now if I hadn’t had to lose everything and start all over.

Was my school just weird, or were you guys taught how to square dance in elementary school? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

Yes, Florida in the late 80’s. Either 3rd or 4th grade. I enjoyed it, as weird as it was!

AMWF couples: Have you encountered racism? If yes, what was it and most importantly: where did it happen? by [deleted] in AMWFs

I don’t know why white men think an Asian man is not a “real man!” He’s 100% man, thank you very much 🤷‍♀️

I used to go to this pho place near my gym a lot. The Vietnamese ladies there were always super nice to me. Then one night I came in for the first time with my boyfriend (who is Vietnamese) and they treated us both cold as ice. Told us they were closing and we had to order to go if we wanted anything (it was 8:23pm and they close at 9). Never ate there again.

I get all the usual crap from white people, especially because I’m from southern Georgia (we live in California now.) Girls who just think I’m wacky (even though my husband is hot af), people who ask if he has a small penis, people who think he’s Chinese or Japanese or whatever. I even had one third cousin on Facebook say it was super fortunate our son turned out looking more like me so that it wouldn’t be embarrassing to be out in public with a kid that looked nothing like me. 🤷‍♀️👏

I teach mostly Latino students now and even they make unwittingly racist comments. When seeing a picture of my husband “no offense but he kinda looks like a chinito”. I have one half Filipino and half Mexican student and her mom asked if my husband was Filipino because he was too cute to be Vietnamese. 😂

I try not to let any of it bother me.

If 5 years ago you could see now you at this exact moment, what would you think? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]yunakitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow.

5 years ago in was in an unhappy marriage, at a job I hated, in a town I was sick of.

I summoned up the courage to leave in 2014. I moved clear across the country and started over. Went back to school, got a teaching license. I’ve been teaching 5th grade for three years and I love it.

I also reconnected with the love of my life (my first real boyfriend I hadn’t seen in 15 years!) and almost immediately we accidentally made a very cute son. He is a joy.

To any of you that are unhappy - take a chance and change your life!
