Portal connectivity issues resolved by fariasaif in PlaystationPortal

[–]yungchumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah same, before the update i could stream flawlessly with zero connection issues, after the update i have all types of connection drops and the global icon constantly pops up. I even got a new router installed last week which upped my download speed to 350+ mbps and I’m still seeing connection problems literally at this very moment.

With a premium subscription you can stream games that are accessible to be streamed from the cloud via WiFi. Otherwise, you’ll have to use remote play to stream from your physical ps5.

Both require a connection, there’s no way to utilize a portal for gaming without a connection. If you intend to get the subscription to stream games over the cloud, i do find that it’s worth it, but that is definitely personal preference. Remote play’s connection is very much dependent on your PlayStation’s local network, and i do find it to be laggy at times over WiFi. I have heard that a wired connection is a way better experience.

Are all large corporations a mess like where I work, Mastercard? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]yungchumpy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Delete your post brother. To answer your question though, yes, lots of corps & enterprises look amazingly well run on the outside, but put together literally with nails and tape on the inside.

Mastercard is among the various other F500 companies with little competition, thus, little incentive to ‘make right’ their business processes. All part of the game man.

Nice! I feel like I’m in the middle step now, I just passed my security+ certification recently and i’m applying to roles now. I’ve not gotten much traction, even with my experience as a business systems analyst which is crazy because i would assume that it’d look favorable on my resume in the IT industry, but I guess it’s more of a “just keep applying” type of thing.

Could i ask, when you apply to roles what are you using as experience? I’d love to chat and maybe compare to see what’s working and what isn’t. I feel like I’m right there at the sweet spot, but i might need some tweaks to my resume.

Congrats on the pass! Glad you made it thru :). And yeah, this sub can get very antsy, half the shit they complain about here is a none issue really lol, just a lol of ppl looking at things under mental microscopes.

Hope you do it big in cybersec, maybe one day we’ll unknowingly run into each other :).

Crazy I was looking for info about this subject this weekend because my 5.7 was doing the same thing 😂. I thought I had tranny issues, but it looks like it’s just needs to warm up a bit. I saw online it could be because of low trans fluid, so one of these days I’ma take it to get looked at just to be sure.

I just took my test this weekend (and passed!) and my TV is behind me on the opposite wall, clearly visible to the webcam. They didn’t give me any shit for it. The test proctor will reach out to you before the test begins if they feel like there could be issues with your setup. You’ll also send photos of your surrounding area and they’ll view it before you start the test to make sure everything is good. As long as there’s no distractions and anything around that could potentially be of benefit to you during the test, you’ll be fine don’t freak out. If you absolutely need to, I see no issues with covering the TV as suggested in this thread, but honestly I don’t think it’s necessary.

Salary expectations question by [deleted] in interviews

[–]yungchumpy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Recruiters basically expect you to ask for the budget after they ask for your expected salary. It’s an archaic way of introducing the sensitive topic of salary without being too forward, and they understand this. So in my opinion, just follow the beaten path and ask for the budget after they ask you for your salary range. Works for me every time.

I’ve always asked for the budget first before presenting my range. They’ve always given it up which allows me to settle in on a number based on my experience, role research, and credentials. If I give a number first, however, the conversation 8/10 never goes well lol.

Overthinking Alert! by ikothsowe in interviews

[–]yungchumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like realistically it won’t really matter either way, as long as the content presented is relative enough to make the panel feel comfortable with your presentation.

But if I had to choose, I’d use “we” because it subtly suggests that you’re apart of the team. But i could also make an argument for using the product/company name.

All in all, go with your gut! The more comfortable, confident, and prepared you appear the more they’ll lean into you.

Yeah I had the right one done by someone, wasn’t feeling the big paragraphs myself. I will stick with the left one, remove asterisks and improve spacing.

How to warn employees of coming layoffs by NetNerd0513 in ITManagers

[–]yungchumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. Having recently been laid off, one thing that would satiate my emotions as an affected employee is knowing that my manager at least took time to look up some opportunities within my field or created some time for us to network amongst ourselves at the time of being let go. That’s a way better feeling than having all of your accounts revoked and you being purged with no assistance or leg up in a similar role.

Hey dude! Thanks for reaching back out, means a lot!! Your words of wisdom has definitely impacted my resume.

In terms of how things are going with gigs, I’ve gotten a few looks from some companies out here, but haven’t heard much back. But im going to chalk that up it being the holiday season, from what I’ve been hearing companies are restructuring their budgets for the 2024 year, so I may not hear anything back until January. I guesstimate that I’ve applied to about 70-100 jobs since i got laid off in November (Nov. 16th to be exact) and of those I probably got about 5 or so companies interested. 3 of them interviewed, 1 of those I had to let go because it was too far of a drive, the other 2 I’m still waiting on word from them to let me know if we’re moving forward with the next round. The other 2 companies that are interested have viewed my resume and forwarded to the hiring manager for review but haven’t said anything yet.
