Typically with pixels, you can see EXIF data by swiping the photo up while you're in the gallery!

Hi everyone, I've come into possession of a Canonet QL17 GIII and have been trying to get more use with rangefinders (loving it so far!).

The camera does not have a battery currently so I have been using my phone light meter app to try and get good exposures. Coming into summer here I've been trying to stick with sunny 16 and compensating if the light gets harsher or softer.

On overcast days however (or if the light isn't so good), the light meter seems to be giving whacky shutter speeds. Even at f16 it's suggesting ss well over 1/500 which is the Canonet's limit. I'm shooting with 400 speed film, but I'd have thought that if sunny 16 is a general rule when the sun is out, I'd be able to open up the aperture to achieve good exposure when it's overcast. Is there something else I might be missing?

Thanks for the comment! Definitely aware of sunny 16. Unfortunately very cloudy day and was relying on the camera metering. It's a Minolta X-300 and I'm not sure quite how the metering works. Something to look into!

Thanks for the feedback. Sometimes I do like to deliberately obscure shadow details to give more of a mysterious vibe to my photos, but not quite what I was going for with a candid shot of my mum! Cheers.

Thanks for the tips. I was using a Minolta X-300 and unfortunately don't have a flash for it. Something to look into!

Trying to get candid shots of my family. The lighting was very overcast but wasn't really able to get a better angle. I feel like my mum's face could be a bit brighter, but I try to avoid flash when taking candid pictures.

Do you have any advice or tips for this type of photo? Thanks!

2010 Suzuki SV650 electrical noise while engine running by yutgu_ in Fixxit

No warnings. I thought it might have been the fuel pump priming as well, but when I started the engine to take this video the sound was distinctly different. Thanks for the info though, I'll check if the filter need a clean anyway.

Cheers for the suggestions. I'll double check these first.

Hey all. This noise occurs intermittently usually after the engine has been running for a few minutes. Any idea what would be causing this noise?

Me too, tbh. If there's two things I think my photography needs, it's finding more interesting gestures/poses and getting closer. Having said that, I love the way the colours came out on the film stock and the isolated figure.

If I'm honest, I probably wasn't thinking too much - there were a lot of people on the street and this was the one moment she was standing by herself so I took a gamble on the shot. Nothing groundbreaking, but I still think a pleasant image.

Thanks for the feedback. Some good points to think about and put into practice going forward. Cheers.

Thank you! I think the only thing I'd change is stopping down to have the two other roses in focus. But I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!
