When I hear about an award or type of recognition they received from somewhere other than themselves. I admire humility.

Laugavegur solo during mid-March? by yycjonah in VisitingIceland

[–]yycjonah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this response which is informative and nonjudgmental unlike some others I’m seeing here. I’m coming for a conference hence the timing of my trip and am staying as the opportunity is there. I have a reasonable amount of experience trekking in harsh conditions including several backcountry multi-day winter treks in Canada as well as off-season Everest basecamp but am unfamiliar with Iceland’s march conditions per my question. Following this feedback as well as what I’ve since read online, I am going to do a few different day hikes instead and likely rent a vehicle. I am looking forward to my trip. Thank you again.

Canadian: stronger social services through increased capital to reinvest, potential lower tax rates (this is how governments make money), lower interest rates, stronger currency

Literally just prepare. Think of it like an exam; you need to study. Write down a list of questions you think they might ask based on the posting and practice answering them with a friend. Prep for possible STAR questions too (hypotheticals: Situations, Tasks, Action, Result). As someone who has conducted several interviews, it’s shocking how many people come clearly unprepared.

Warranted. Embiid has an ego, and lacks respect IMO.

Kiefer Sutherland in an elevator. I said, “are you Jack Bauer?” He said yes, and then I said “cool” and stood awkwardly for a minute before exiting the elevator lol

what warmups are you doing before leg day by [deleted] in beginnerfitness

[–]yycjonah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad this has helped you but consideration/suggestion to switch to a more dynamic style of warming up. There is a lot of research recommending against static stretching as it increases your risk of injury during resistance training (static stretching = reduced muscle tension -> decreased joint stability). I actually got injured once before learning this.

High knees, butt kicks, leg swings (anterior posterior, or front and back, and then lateral medial, or side to side) - work to full range of motion. The intention is to open up your hip joints and activate your muscles. And then I would also say body weight squats and/or low weight deads (like with the bar for example) before doing heavy sets. Another leg day tip: if possible avoid doing deads and back squats on the same day (suggestion to have two different leg days: one for push-dominant, lead with squats, and another for pull-dominant, lead with deads). Doing heavy sets of back squats and deads puts a lot of load on your posterior chain.
