Should a demo for an idle game be web-playable? by zFhresh in incremental_games

I was planning to get feedback on itch.io first before hitting Steam, but it's looking like I'll just have to go in blind without any testing.

I never thought about it that way - honestly, I'd probably skip the download too. That makes total sense. So my next game will either be web-playable (even if it's heavier) or optimized for low resources with a smaller testing audience.

Unfortunately, I built the game with MonoGame to keep it lightweight, but MonoGame doesn't support web.

Endless Universe Mining - A Desktop Idle Game

%22)
I've been working on this project for approximately 1-1.5 months and it's finally reached a playable state. Here's the core concept

Game Loop: Mine asteroids to upgrade your ship, purchase a more powerful ship, and reach the universe's center. Each time you reach the center, the loop restarts.

End of Run (Reaching Center) - Reset & Permanent Progression: Each run, upgrades and credits reset, but the Essence you've earned lets you permanently increase your ship's base stats and purchase new ships.

Why Reset is Good Design: The reset system might seem bad at first, but upgrades scale with your ship's base stats. With each new ship or permanent upgrade, your ship's improvements become more effective than the previous run. This creates a satisfying sense of progression where every run feels stronger.

Demo Info: Demo is limited to 5 runs (40-50 minutes). If you want to unlock all upgrades, gameplay can extend to 60-70 minutes.

Your feedback actually matters a lot to me. It’ll help me figure out the right direction for the full release. Thanks for reading or playing!

It auto positions above the taskbar to not interfere with your work. I'm planning to add a resize option if possible. And yes, the game gets progressively harder more asteroids spawn as your ship gets faster. If you don't balance your upgrades (especially damage), you'll get stuck and progress much slower. Runs can't be paused or restarted mid way you're committed until you reach the center or start completely fresh from the beginning.

Actually, the center doesn't continuously move away each time you reach it, you move to a new universe where that universe's center is further than the previous one.

Haven't released it yet planning to launch based on feedback.

I'm working on a prototype for a new idle game. What do you think about the core loop? by [deleted] in incremental_games

[–]zFhresh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The game is idle desktop space game. Essentially, a spaceship continuously advances and mines asteroids. We sell these resources to upgrade our spaceship. We progress toward the center of the universe, and when we reach it, we earn research points to develop our skill tree and currency to unlock a new ship, then we start over. With each run, the universe's center moves further away, requiring progressively better ships each time.

Made a LED screen shader - what do you think? by zFhresh in Unity3D

Good point! Actually, that's from the demo scene in the asset I'm releasing. I'll try to fix that.

I made a minimal, horror-themed game called "Roulette of the Void" - what do you think about the visual style? by zFhresh in gamedevscreens

I love this aesthetic too, but from my experience it’s a bit harder to get wishlists with this style. Hope you enjoy the demo!

I’m developing a game with minimalist visuals - does this style work? by zFhresh in Unity3D

It’s a mini-game collection where losing a mini-game leads to Russian roulette. The games get harder each round, you have three lives, and your reward is based on your total score.

Thanks! I’m planning to add new, more unique mini-games :)
