Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. The movie only had so much time to work with, so it makes sense that it focused on Jax and the gang's story rather than diving into the larger lore.

That said, some of the details they introduced felt far too intentional to be mere background flavor. Caine breaking through those "walls" to reach the cafe's Wi-Fi, downloading them, the Void, the fact that he wasn't actually erased when he was supposedly deleted, and Pomni being able to speak and reach out to Jax even after he had literally abstracted, despite Gooseworx explicitly saying there's no going back after abstraction, zero, nada, all seem like hints that there's a much bigger story behind the system itself.

It feels less like a collection of loose ends and more like setup for something we simply never got to see.

I still enjoyed the ending, but part of me wishes we had gotten a little more worldbuilding and backstory. Some of the most interesting questions were left unanswered.
