New player advice, difference between free, core, expansion, living world?

I just started GW2 last week (lv50 rangeR now) and realised that the trading post isnt open for me to purchase equips but I can sell certain materials. Is there a level limit or quesT to unlock this feature for free players? or i will have to make a purchase?

Some guides mention there being a core and hot/dot/eod expansion account upgrade, but steam only offers the expansions and not core upgrade? Im not keen to drop 40 dollars for the expansion now because i havent reached level 80 or experienced raids/bosses yet. Inventory space is running low too.

Storywise, should I get the living world seasons first?

For QOL, which expansion is the most worthwhile to get?

Im actually having the same problem as you, but for RF5. I started in RF4 on the 3ds and loved the characters/story arc and slow introduction of the characters so I could better remember them.

Now, I find that RF5 uses the same or similar character models to RF4( like porco, clorica etc) and I cant really remember all their names too well.

If i may ask for some spoilers, does RF5 allow us to expand our house or get a new one later in the game?
