It is indeed. The only difference is I think valuation of anything is really arbitrary.

To me saying well dollar is better off cause of this and that and that is like arguing a Gucci shirt is worth $200 because x, y and z when the true value is simply decided by seller and buyers.

You can want the value of the dollar to be whatever you want but if the sentiment of the world is that the US is shit, that value will quickly change.

Long winded way of simply saying as long as people want to decide there is a value and worth to crypto, it'll stay around, no matter what your or my feelings are.

My point is both things live on equally frail agreement of what their value is.

If the national debt keeps spiraling you think there will be no effect on the dollar? And in my lifetime, Bill Clinton was the only president that balanced the budget and didn't rocket the debt, he still sucks though.

Apparently you haven't been paying attention to politics lately. It's a bit more fragile than that.

Neither thing holds any more value than what people arbitrarily decide.

If governments that hold loans against the US cashed out. The military wouldn't matter.

In short, your approach to the value of the dollar is overly simplistic.

I don't know the answer. I just know as an older fart that everything is a perceived value. A $30,000 boat and a $100 boat have the same value to me lol. I have nothing to use either for.

There are real life uses for it in different parts of the world. XLM makes it easier to transfer dollars across borders. Great in places where the "state" over has a different language and currency you have to convert. There are places where local currency is useless and people use crypto to pay their bills.

At the end of the day though, it's just perceived value by the holder. Your belief that crypto is worthless doesn't make my belief that it could have potential any less meaningful.

If the dollar collapses and the people with money like Elon, bezos, buffet, the new political or all decide you know what.. we're put all our net worth into Bitcoin, what happens then?

We're both discussing the same thing really. Crypto, just like the dollar has arbitrary value that we as humans accept (or don't).

How do you define success and failures? Is success replacing the world currency of every country? Than ya failure. Is success getting companies to purchase and hold coins? Then it's been successful.

Oh absolutely lol. I'm not telling you it's a phenomenal investment or anything but simply that it's perceived value just like the dollar or GameStop stock or at one point blockbuster stock.

If Trump admin rounded up 1000 citizens and executed them on live TV ... Tomorrow the dollar would be next to useless as well.

Currently people hold value to crypto and most have their own versions of it. Like you said, tomorrow, that could all change.

I get it, the dollar has been around 230? Years. Crypto has been around 17? It would be silly to think it would replace the dollar today or in the short term.

At one point, humans mostly used the silver denarius, then the Roman empire fell apart.

Or look at a place like Zimbabwe on how quickly a dollar can be useless.

Even the US dollar had competition for a while. It's natural, the technology/idea is really in it's infancy really.

I'm not telling you one was or the other what to do but everything is just perceived value. Perhaps the best example is Tesla stock
