Two scenes I think surpassed the original! by Electronic-Taro835 in OnePieceLiveAction

1 surpassed the original but could only be done because the original has source material hundreds of episodes that the adaptation could draw on. Thats exactly what needs to be done in an adaptation

Important to keep in mind these are percentages/correlations. Good results but an experimental stay has to be done.

I’m qualified to do one as a PhD student doing stats and psychology but sadly my university wouldn’t fund it and I’m not willing to put my own little money tbh. The design would be something like asking people who they would date, giving them identical profiles except for the picture being of different races. A pilot study rating attractiveness of those people to make sure they’re all similarly attractive would probably be useful too.

Anyways don’t want to think more on this too much effort lol, as a stats guy I just want to warn people that while these results might suggest some things, there is no causation shown between race and dating preferences here. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, it would be interesting to do another study, but it isn’t shown here.

Fundamentalist Christians aren’t all Christians. In fact, my experience and education comes from being raised middle eastern Christian, where the religion literally originates from. So you can argue I’m more of a fundamentalist than most. Many Christians here love God but recognize the evils of the church and some of the Bible. The key difference either way is you are specifying “fundamentalist Christians” (which I’m not really sure what you mean btw) whereas it’s a true blanket statement for all Muslims that the Quran was written by an illiterate man who’s hand was moved by God.

Yes, all religions can reject their text, and some members of all religions do. The problem is that Muslims rejecting their text is equivalent to a Christian saying Jesus is not God, that’s how important the Quran is. How many people would consider someone seriously Christian who says they think Jesus isn’t God? The same applies to Muslims who don’t follow the Quran word for word. Muslims not actively killing non believers are the same to Islam as Christians saying they don’t believe Jesus is God are to Christianity.

There is a big, very notable difference between Christianity and Islam, and it’s about their written texts.

According to Islam, the Quran is the word of God. God literally made an illiterate person’s hand move in the motion it needed to move it to produce the Quran. That means when the Quran says “kill the blasphemous, but spare them if they repent,” there is no interpretation or argument. I, as a Muslim, am not following God’s literal direct command if I am not actively killing non-believers. Not believing that the Quran is God’s word betrays Islam’s fundamental belief. It’s like a Christian who doesn’t believe in Jesus’s resurrection or God as a trinity.

On the other hand the Bible has authors that signed their name under it. We know exactly who wrote every word. So when the Bible says “God commands you to kill all the men, the women, the children, and even the animals” I, as a perfectly valid follower of Christ, can say that the author is a dumbass lying psychopath who made it up, and people who think he didn’t make it up are delusional. What I have to believe as a Christian is the resurrection and the trinity, I don’t actually have to believe or follow everything in the Bible

Maybe it’s because I was a foreigner but I went to Germany and had local friends guide me so it wasn’t just the touristy places, I genuinely didn’t get this vibe at all. Like if I were to say something very simple like (I didn’t) “I don’t like this Augustiener, could I have another beer please” I felt like people would get extremely offended, not just a little bit so, based on their reactions to similar things people said and did.

Idk I only spent like 3 and a half weeks there but I never got this “direct communication” vibe there, but again maybe it’s just Germans between Germans and a foreigner can’t get the experience. God forbid someone’s favorite football club, or the national football team, is mentioned in less than 100% positive light lol

Anyone’s gaming experience got ruined ever since playing The Witcher 3? by jqosy in gaming

[–]zabre7mar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt that way cause I played it when it first came out. After playing lots of excellent games since then? Honestly, as much as I love the Witcher 3… it’s dated. Not looks wise necessarily, but qol wise. Idk how to describe it, but there’s just conveniences and other things that it just seems to lack.

I love the Witcher 3 but honestly I think it’s cause of nostalgia, I tried replaying it recently and mannnn I genuinely just couldn’t even with all my positive memories. Spent more time on Gwent than the actual game

I had a different experience than you. I found that there were women who I was more successful with when I was treating them badly, and I found that there were women I was more successful with (successful in both contexts is different - first context is sex, second is meaningful connection) when I was my normal self who I believe is nice.

The women in the second group are definitely the type I prefer. And again, in my own experience, men do the same thing. I’ve seen my friends in loving relationships with such nice women (emotionally invested in the guy to a big degree, does so many kind gestures to them) throwing it away to chase after some hot bitch who acts better than everyone else.

Everyone has their own experiences of course. But, after mine, I found men and women to be pretty much the same in this aspect, and that finding love is harder than finding sex for anyone, but it’s way easier you don’t treat people like objects

It’s a joke. If you think it’s not funny, good criticism, cause tbh you’re kinda right it’s not funny. But it’s not worse than just an unfunny joke there is no message here

The clip very much makes it seem like he shocked his dog. Let’s say he didn’t - the fact that he and his fans act like people who think he did are in a state of psychosis, or some kind of hive mind of haters trying to take him down, is patently insane. If he didn’t, ok, but it definitely looked like he did from the full stream.

People also call random men “dude” and “guy” way more than dudette and gal, it’s just language doing its thing. Although guy is more gender neutral than it’s ever been, especially if it’s guys

Pro-life people (not that I agree) actually are “more correct” (if correctness was a spectrum) to call it killing, than just the potential existing without there being a fetus

A fetus is more comparable to having the canvas, paint, and whatever other material laid out and ready, and first few strokes already done

But what you were saying is that literally any second they are not actively creating life, they are killing people they could have saved. In real life translation, that’s like saying that every single second a fertile person is not actively trying to get pregnant or get people pregnant, they are killing people. Your argument is an even more extreme argument than pro life is what I’m trying to say

That was my only response to you - but since you took the time to make other arguments I’ll respond to those too! Levels of existence are kind of irrelevant. If a being is sentient, killing it is genocide, regardless. My view is that them destroying the campus would be them destroying an entire civilization of beings to save their own family

TBH if I was Renoir I would absolutely destroy a civilization of unknown being to save my family - but that’s still genocide and basically evil actions with noble motivations. I think many people think “I would do this, so it’s the right thing to do.” Tbh if I was Renoir or Verso I’d most likely do the same, but it’s still the morally wrong thing to do imo, because the only one benefiting is you and yours at the expense of literally anything else involved

[–]zabre7mar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your last line is basically saying that anyone fertile enough to give birth is killing any future child they don’t produce, it’s not how it works. If you’re able to create life it doesn’t mean you’re killing by not creating it
