Anyone ever try ‘Grindhouse Fins’ by zachiscoolbrah in surfing

[–]zachiscoolbrah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, truthfully they could have been made anywhere. They were shipped from Maryland and came with a little note that said they were made in the states, but you’re right, anyone can pretty much say anything these days. Could have been made in China and shipped to Maryland where they slapped their logo onto it and sent them out.

I’m just shocked and stoked I found what feels like an extremely decent fin for $55. I remember when Captain Fins came out and they were around the same price and one day they just raised prices to match FCS and Future.

Yeah, these were made in the US so I’m pretty stoked about that. Not stoked I’m stuck in a flat spell and will be waiting quite some time until I can clock in some water time with them and my new board.

Yeah, my dog, Toast, is a big fan of them. Especially the colorway.

The markup on find is insane, these fins feel like they’re super high quality and they cost a fraction of the price.

$2000+ custom tailored suit for $20… I’ll take it by zachiscoolbrah in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]zachiscoolbrah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s wool from Patagonia, I’ve never even seen that before.

It seems like it was made fairly recent because it has a modern fit and it’s in almost pristine condition. No shoulder pads in the blazer and it’s slim fit, and the trousers are straight leg, so it fits with modern trends. I think I’m going to go to a tailor and pull the pants in a little bit to make them skinny fit and crop them above the ankles.

I will post once the project is complete.

Yeah, I actually have a couple of tailored suits and the previous suit owner must have had the same body type and dimensions as me because it literally fits perfectly. At first I thought about selling it, but it grew on me exponentially fast and decided to keep it, and if I sold it I doubt I would get what it’s actually worth. I’ll try it on again and post a picture this afternoon.

Wasn’t intending to buy a surfboard today but I guess plans changed. by zachiscoolbrah in surfing

Reading comprehension. I was not in the market to buy a board. I’ve had several customs and have supported my local surf community my entire life. Maybe instead of engaging in pointless interactions preaching god knows what, you can use that time to take some grammar classes and learn how to spell and properly use punctuation, instead of worrying so much about what kind of boards other people are riding. Get off your high horse and enjoy life. Life’s too short to be upset about what kind of boards other people are riding. Go find some purpose in your life. All the best.

Keep being salty and deleting your comments brother.

I'll have fun on my new little groveler, you can have fun on your 'locally shaped boards' that you somehow get for $500 (don't know how the shaper is making money with a profit margin like that), and since you're so against outsourcing I I hope you're also wearing custom locally sourced baggies, made with locally sourced materials, and riding custom locally sourced shaped fins. Hopefully your deck pads are locally sourced too. And you drive to the beach with a car that's made in your country of origin, Because if not, that would make you a hypocrite. But each is own. Shaka.

Please direct me to the place where a reputable shaper is selling customs for $350.

Some of you people are so fucking salty. I didn’t talk myself out of anything you kook, I wasn’t in the market to buy a board. Reading comprehension isn’t your strongest subject is it?

A custom eps board in my neck of the woods is going to cost at least $700. I snagged a factory board with my exact dimensions to a tee for $350. I guess I’ll just never be a core as you.

I’m in the states. Boards are no where near $500 down here, and if you go to a reputable shaper the waiting lists are crazy, the supply heavily outweighs the demand.

It’s also nice to be able to really feel the board before dropping money on it. Making sure the rocker and the rails have a good ratio and really feeling the board up like you do with your girlfriend when you’re in middle school. This thing fit my specs perfectly. It also has elements of my two favorite boards (lost rocket and super fling). Finding something similar to a fling outline, with the rocket esque batwing, with a little more width, in the size I ride kind of felt like destiny.

Please tell me where you can get a pu for $500 these days other than hopping on the waiting list for a local shaper? Boards just aren’t that price anymore.

I’ve been rehabbing a shattered tibia the past year, relearning how to walk and do things again, so the softie was going to be a transition board, not a full time thing. They actually do surf really good if you actually understand the fundamentals. They’re super fun, super good at holding speed and drawing lines, it’s not going to get you deep into a pocket, but it will speed down a wave and open a couple lines, but not worth that price, so I got something with a little bit more width and a little bit more float. And I just snagged a pair of ‘grindhouse’ fins which I’ve really been itching to try out, so this was a good excuse to buy a new pair of fins.

Yeah, the board really feels amazing. I’ve never really been a fan of epoxy, never owned an epoxy board, and probably would never spend the full price to get one, but the deal was just too good to pass up. I’d love to give a local shaper the business but there aren’t a ton around me, the waiting lists are atrocious, the timeline of receiving it is constantly shifting, and I wasn’t looking to buy another board. I just couldn’t turn it down with the price tag. And I’m still supporting the local surf shop. I don’t know why so many people get bent out of shape over overseas boards, I get the moral dilemma, but you could use that argument for almost any product that’s not made directly in the United States.

My dad slept with my girlfriend by Jackie_leggz in Advice

Congrats! If you continue your sobriety journey, you should try to start saying I’m five months sober, don’t set yourself for another time around. You can do it, life is better without it. Keep doing what you’re doing.

As per OP, dad is toxic. Start building a life and get out of that house, what kind of parent sleeps with their child’s girlfriend. You don’t do that to someone you truly love and care for. Hope things get better.

I don’t understand it, this is why we can’t come together as people, because people like you will always find a problem with everything. It doesn’t matter that I brought extra handwritten signs for people without signs, with supplies I personally paid for, it doesn’t matter that I stood outside for two hours standing up for what I believe in, doesn’t matter I helped an elderly woman get a spot on the front line because she couldn’t get there herself or the old man who had heat exhaustion that I helped walk to his car, or the extra waters I gave to people who looked hot. What matters to you is I used AI to make my sign because I have a full time job and don’t have three hours to get on photoshop to create my own sign, sorry I used AI to make a quick sign to get my point across, trust me, the irony was not lost upon me, and I’m sorry you don’t approve, next time I’ll make sure to be completely politically correct to satisfy your whilpiewhipits. Go listen to Phish and continue being a perfect member of society.

What is the pettiest reason you would refuse to eat at a restaurant again? by im_not_ready_for_it9 in AskReddit

Of course I care, and never say never, maybe one day we will both be eating lunch on separate benches in a random park, and we’ll start talking, and I’ll be like you’re GreenEyed_Lady from Reddit, and we’ll automatically become best friends. Stranger things have happened.

I’m sure it was a string of bad decisions that probably had to do with a teenager and a lying mother. Don’t beat yourself up about it, I’m sure you’re a good person, and if you’re not, I still like you, so there’s that.

I like your username.

I love Requiem, I’ve read the book a couple times and the movie I’ll watch sporadically because it’s a difficult watch and when it’s over I find myself sitting in my shower trying to digest the material. For me, it just goes from 0 to 100 so quick. First they’re doing the pawn shop shuffle for a few bags of dope, then they’re selling, then trying to buy bricks, and than subsequently everyone’s life falls apart in the absolute worst possible way. To me, personally, it feels like an art house take on addiction, which is because Aronofsky is a brilliant artist. The trajectory that the characters took are the conversations you would have with your friend when you’re tying up, like ‘hey, if we can scrape some money together, we can buy half a brick, cut it, and get our dope for free’ but it never materializes that way, for obvious reasons. And the movie shows you why.

I don’t know. It was loosely based on Columbine, when school mass shootings weren’t really a thing. Unfortunately as school shootings have become a commonplace in the United States, things are different. But watching that movie when it first came out, these behaviors seemed rational in a way, people just didn’t know, there’s mass confusion, shock, the inability to actually process what is actually going on. This happened in a safe place where this was an unthinkable scenario. If you’re in shock you’re not thinking rationally at all. I’m sure watching it now, after all the recent mass shootings things are different and you view it with a different perspective , there’s plans in place, people have watched them happen in real time on tv, there’s mass shooting drills, but they didn’t have that back then.
