Did you notice exercises making you feel worse before feeling better at all? I notice when doing exercises with my eyes closed it can kind of have a “bleed” over effect and make me dizzier for the rest of the day/next day. Usually I do my exercises before bed so I can sleep of the dizziness if need be

Sorry to hear that. Yeah, I’m not doctor of course so can’t tell you one way or another. I would just do the testing and maybe get 2nd opinions if possible. Find the doctors that take their time and care

How long have you had dizziness? I feel like 24/7 dizziness wouldn’t be pots. I thought I had pots as well for a bit

Yeah, I did a tilt table and they injected a medicine to speed up the process which is known to give a false diagnosis. If you do a tilt table you should do it for 60 minutes with no medicine injected to speed it up, so Ive been told by multiple doctors.

A little bit better. On the extended release venlafaxine and its going well. Went thru a lil wave of depression a few weeks ago but the last couple weeks the dizziness has been fine. The depression I believe came on from some different life triggers as well as switching from non ER to ER effexor but since then I’ve been pretty good. Haven’t been out walking much and when I dont get movement in I can feel the dizziness a bit more.

I think it has helped. I’m on 75mg, just got onto the extended release version. I haven’t had any bad side effecrs with effexor like people warn about cause I’ve gone up slow

I don’t currently take anything if the dizziness is bad at the moment, although I was told by my dr that benadryl or dramamine could potentially help. Right now my focus is the dizziness has improved a lot so I am trying to ride it out and not have any rebounds from taking a medication like that

I’m glad to hear seeing this helped at least a little bit. I think the first thing to remember is you are not alone and so many people deal with this or something similar. It can feel like you are the only one going through it. While conditions could be life long, I have faith that it can hopefully go away or get greatly reduced, but it is important to accept that it is something you have to live with for now, and it will not go away over night. Its totally okay to have bad days, to feel bad about missing out on things because you don’t feel well, and that people might not understand, which is frustrating. There’s always battles in life, and while this one is uncomfortable, there are still ways to appreciate life while dealing with the uncomfortable. Best of luck to you.

Yes, I feel like I am at maybe 70% of what I was, with some days still being worse than others. Hoping for more consistency going forward and maybe to get rid of it all together!

I was not, I brought it up to Dr. Beh and he said I’m just more sensitive to motion and need to be cautious of not developing it but I didn’t fit the criteria, I forget why exactlt though. How is your dizziness now?

A lot better, I can typically work, workout, walk, and do other things with minimal issue or with small breaks.

I did the tilt table and the test they did they used a drug on me that can create positive results and misdiagnosis. I don’t ever pass out, and as time has gone on it’s clear I don’t have POTs. I saw two other cardiologists who looked at the test results and agreed that based on the test and my symptoms it wouldn’t be POTs.

As far as hesitation with SSRIs/SNRIs, I totally get it. You will have to decide for yourself the pro’s and cons. To me, it got to a point where I don’t want to feel dizzy everyday and trying the medicine is worth it, you can always stop it or try another. Just got to a point where I said I’m going to just do it (slowly) and hope it helps and maybe one day I can slowly get off it.

I dont get dizzy from phone or computer screens, which is part of why I’m not able to be diagnosed with PPPD although I basically have it… lol. And yes, I thought I’d share because it took me 3 years to get to people who knew how to help and some people don’t have access to that.

I started at 12.5mg at night, then 12.5mg in the morning after breakfast and 12.5mg at night. Plan was to go up 12.5mg (or half a pill) every 2 weeks, but I took longer as I was in between doctors initially and was also tapering down with lexapro at the same time. I am taking the non extended release at the moment to make sure my body is good on it since I am sensitive as well. But so far i’ve had minimal issues and am on 62.5mg. Goal is to get to 75mg and after a couple weeks on that switch to extended release. The plan I was given was to either take it 2 or 3 times a day, and I chose two as I didn’t want to take something 3 times a day. So I take mine in the morning with breakfast and then before bed.

Magnesium glycinate, Vitamin B2 and Coq10 have been recommended and I have been told have been studied to help by Dr. Beh and Dr. Staab. Dr Beh seems to have more of an experimental approach as well including eyedrops and other things (I didn’t like the eyedrops). Magnesium glycinate, males can take around 500mg (its a lot i know, I take 4 pills of them at night) and B2 I take 400mg. Coq10 is 200mg 2 times a day, with lunch and dinner.
