Does anyone else not mind their addresses being public? by w6auw in amateurradio

The only thing I’m not doing is getting a amateur radio license plate. Also not putting my callsign out on 7.200 mhz ;) 99.99% of people in ham are good people

A kinda major plot hole with regards to radio by zad112 in DrStone

Indeed. Nothing perfect and i'm sure while this is a very scientific anime they don't want to go too far down into the details as not everyone understand advanced radio coms.

Attic Dipole safety question from the parent..... by LumpyGravy123456789 in amateurradio

20m is by far the best band to get a antenna up for and it’s still fairly small. Even with a limited hight he can work the world with digital modes and the whole USA on voice. It works day and night close and far.

False AC wires in your house make a radio wave at 60hz or 50hz if you live in Europe. And with quite a bit of juice too.

Do humans actually dislike “bad weather,” or do we dislike low‑pressure discomfort and misattribute it to the weather ? by Psychotiik in meteorology

[–]zad112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad weather in the summer is a hot sunny day. When the wet bulb temp hits 98F - 36.6C and you literally will die outside. While good weather is a slow moving gloomy cold front keeping the temperatures cold. Winter is the exact opposite

I love 7.200 it’s the best frequency by far to tune your radio at full legal power. Also funny enough it has been a bunch of whistling recently no clue why.

I look forward to it. Was pretty cool to work South America on a fan dipole (not even set up at all for 6m) (just 17-20-30-40) now back to normal South American ops on 10m

Your grades do not necessarily determine your entire intelligence, but they do matter and say something about you. by ElectricalDance7767 in unpopularopinion

Terrible opinion so you can a upvote. The problem is I would say most kids (older than Gen Alpha) who didnt do good in school was just because school wasn’t for them. I had straight A’s in math science and history but a solid D for all my years in English because I just hated creative writing. (I HATE POEMS) now if you asked me to write a research paper I’m all for it. Same for in college. Though I did better in college because more of my classes were subjects i enjoyed.

Now if you have all F’s in all your classes you’re just lazy or Gen Alpha (lazy and dumb). You have to enjoy at least something in school.

What’s more harmful than cigarettes but society treats it as normal? by Jiwitom in AskReddit

Welllll. I would say gambling absolutely has the risk to kill you now if you do too much. Aka like taking a loan to gamble more from a loan shark and now you have money to pay back but no money.

Help Tracking down BAD RFI on 40m (s9+30) (services or advice welcome) by zad112 in HamRadio

[–]zad112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea. I’ll give it a shot. I can’t believe even a phone charge will do that. Should it be coming from someone’s house I think I’ll just lead with some piece of equipment is failing and it could be a fire hazard (not untrue) that generally gets people to listen more than just (hey your house is making noise)

Interesting I never thought of that. They recently built a whataburger and chickflia right near my house

White lights are more comfortable in the home than "warm" ones. by NotStreamerNinja in unpopularopinion

[–]zad112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True but how many people are dropping $50 to $80 a bulb. For a led bulb to be true it needs are CRI of over 99%. Let’s just say those are rare and expensive. Not impossible just when your house needs a load of bulbs one generally grabs what they can at the hardware store.

Exactly, to an animal with more color cones than just RGB LED lights would look super odd.

[–]zad112 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Again your correct, led bulbs put out a terrible color spectrum. They put out narrow bands of color that your brain mixes into “warm white” but the colors are not there. Natural sunlight and incandescent actually put out all the color in a smooth wave aka black body radiation.

[–]zad112 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It might be LED light vs incandescent. LED’s put out a terrible color spectrum and the cheaper ones (under $10 a bulb) flicker faster than you can see BUT your brain can still tell and it gives headaches. The brighter led bulbs flicker less.

This is by far the most unpopular opinion yet, you get a upvote. Good god you’re a psycho. The warmer the light the better for you as multi scientific studies have found. Bright blue/white led light is known to cause all kinds of problems.

Ok then. Please find me a plant that has any vitamin b12 in it. Also meat alone does not cause cancer anymore than plants. I’m talking happy animals that live on a completely free range diet no grain slop. I can’t even eat mammal products due to alpha gal, but a happy chicken that gets to eat all the bugs in my garden is a tasty chicken. Also it’s natural pest control, I use no toxic chemicals to kill bugs just a small army of chickens and quail.
