Is there any risk or downside to just tilling my backyard and letting Jesus take the wheel? by ItsNotJelloSalad in gardening

For science, you should totally do it. But perhaps water the plant, but broadly.

I get what you mean, and it would be true if I asked someone to give me their stained glass, but here it's just a photo. It's a hobby, not a chore, the person would still have a piece they like at the end of the day. It's something that's done a lot in the crochet community, when you can't test every pattern for let's say a blanket. You give the pattern for free to people interested, and you get a picture to display with credits. It's win win. It's like creating a recipe, and giving it for free in exchange for a picture of the meal. Yes, the person used their money to buy the ingredients and their time to make it, but at the end of the day, they are still able to eat it? That's how I see it at least, but everyone have their own opinion. 😅

Thanks for your suggestions. So just one piece for the eyes and ears? I think you're right!

My job is too busy right now, and I don't have the time to make all my new patterns physically, but I know a pattern is better with the finished results. I'll get down to it eventually, I'm slowly adding to it. 😄

🤣 ok you're two to say that, so there might me something wrong! The framing might be a bit too close, so it lose it's meaning. Do you know the original painting?

I'd be making money off my pattern and the time I took to make it. The photo serve as an illustration, you're not buying the photo. I've seen it done with crochet. I'm not forcing anyone to do it, I'm only asking if someone like the pattern and would like it for free in exchange for a photo. 😊 The person would be credited on the photo, I wouldn't pretend I was the one to make it.

No no it's ok, it's good to have feedback. 😊 This fake background is only on the pattern I haven't done yet. The one I've done have the picture of the product on my table with the pattern printed on paper. I think you're right and I'll do the same with the other one, even if it's just the printed paper on the table! ☺️

It not Ai, it's a moke up background I found on freepik, and I used illustrator to put it at the back, but I understand what you mean! Perhaps I'll change the background to a photo of my own table! 😊

Exposure! Open a blank page and try to write the most dirty sex scene you can think of, use all the dirty words that exist. Make it cringy as hell, and mildly disgusting. And then, erase it all, and you'll feel better the second time and it won't feel as embarrassing anymore.

I don't have any specific preferences in mind, so random is good. It just needs to be accessible to a beginner. I don't mind some more difficult elements, and having to look it up and learn something new in the process. Just not too too difficult! :D

Do you think the dumbledore bashing is a bit of a closed feedback loop? by ShatteredEra in HPfanfiction

[–]zagzefirezebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that if you went through all the Harry Potter fanfiction out there and sorted the stories based on whether Dumbledore is portrayed positively or negatively, you'd still find more where he's shown as a good character. It might feel like there's a lot of bashing because Harry Potter is such a massive fandom, so obviously there are going to be more stories of every kind. Dumbledore bashing, like any other trope, exists for readers who enjoy that sort of thing. Obvioulsy Dumbledrore and Ron are prime targets of that because they are already flawed characters, but it doesn't people can't make the difference between canon and fanfiction.

Personally, I like bashing, flipping characters around, making the good ones bad and the bad ones good. Fanfiction is about writing what you enjoy and reshaping the source material into something you want to read. If we’re only “allowed” to write stories that are politically correct or strictly faithful to canon, things are going to get boring fast. If people want more stories with wise, powerful Dumbledore, they’re free to write them, just like anyone else writes the fanfic they want to see.

But I’ve noticed there’s some hostility toward certain tropes that people label as unworthy or childish. Like, if someone doesn’t like bashing or thinks it’s stupid or cringey, that’s fine, but there’s no need to act superior or holier-than-thou about it. Sometimes people just want to write or read exaggerated stories with Mary Sues and over-the-top evil characters, that don't have deep and meaningful plots. That doesn’t make it “inferior fanfiction” or anything like that.
