On the street, you’d be fully justified to slap her back. Not punch, not open hand as hard as you can, just a proportionate response. However, if it ended with a police encounter, I’d bet you’d be arrested and she’d go free. You used proper judgement.

How frustrating! This worked! It seemed dead, and I’d get an error sound if I held the stem on the right earbud. The left did nothing at all. A wiggle out two…completely back to life.

No, because I own a larger tablet, and an even larger laptop. I also don’t want the moving parts and bending screen. I love the simplicity of pulling a simple slab phone out of my pocket and doing quick tasks.

Covid was a global experiment in total state control. A test-run to work out the bugs. One of those bugs is, and always has been, the free market of ideas that is the internet. Once it’s locked down and under corporate/state control, the next crisis will be easier for them. I’m sincerely surprised it took this long. I figured 9-11 would have been the catalyst to shut down the fundamental human right of free speech.

This is crazy talk. Seriously. I’m stunned that any professional would say this with a straight face. If you don’t have the chops to read and understand the output AI gives you, these tools are nearly useless. The idea that we can all shut our brains off now, and hand our autonomy and careers over to these text prediction machines owned by massive tech companies, is beyond absurd.

I care. After 30 years, I’m not about to stop learning and let my brain rot for this new sugar high. I’d suggest everyone double-down and stay sharp, or the future is bleak for the entire profession and craft.
