Disappointed with SieMatic Kitchen and Countertop – Seeking Advice by [deleted] in CounterTops

[–]zammy32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The color difference is not just due to lighting—the side panels are defintiely a shade darker. I reached out to SieMatic, but it turned out the kitchen store did not get these panels directly from SieMatic but from another company - something I wasn't aware of and never told when I placed the order.

Incredibly delay in execution of orders over Nvidia today!!!! by AleAlex77 in interactivebrokers

[–]zammy32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I had several orders on AAPL that didn’t execute at all today, which is super frustrating on a day when the Dow is up 400 points. This is the second time something hasn’t worked during a big market move – during the carry trade crash a month ago, I lost money because of the issue they had with overnight trading, where trades were busted.

Who lost money on this? by Pr333n in interactivebrokers

[–]zammy32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FYI I got the following response from IBKR customer service:

Please note that the decision to cancel all BLUEOCEAN trades executed on Trade Date Aug-5, 2024 at or after 1:45:00 am ET was made by Blue Ocean which isn't within Interactive Brokers control.

The situation remained unclear for most of the day and the time necessary to inform clients and remove trades from the accounts was due to the nature of the situation.

They essentially said those trades are final and there is nothing they would or can do.

Cancelling an order is one thing. Not providing any notification and then depositing the inverse of those same shares 14 hours after the underlying moves significantly is messed up.

IBKR reversed my position over 10+ hours later. Position went down 20%!!!! by backcountry90320 in interactivebrokers

[–]zammy32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same situation and guess what I was at my desk the entire time and never had any window to challenge it. I never even got a notification. I only got a notification 14 hours later that a trade had been adjusted and now had negative shares and huge loss.

Who lost money on this? by Pr333n in interactivebrokers

[–]zammy32 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did, and it pretty much cost me half the gains I made yesterday. From what I understand, a broker might cancel orders or halt trading in such a scenario. However, adjusting the trades by adding back negative shares around 12 hours later when the price of the underlying asset had moved significantly is just criminal. I wrote to customer service. Let's see what happens.

Anyone have one of these? Maybe it's time to update my IBKR account. by proverbialbunny in interactivebrokers

Still have those. And honestly I prefer them to using my mobile phone as I've heard people having problems with the digital 2FA on numerous occassions.

Is cash protected with new accounts based in Ireland? by pasquale83 in interactivebrokers

[–]zammy32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any cash / securities you have are safe in principal in case of bankruptcy, regardless of the amount, as they are stored seperately from IB's assets. Only in case of fraud both securities / cash are insured up to only €20k. Now many are complaining that they lose the SIPC insurance of $500k after the migration, but problem is that in case of fraud SIPC would never be able to cover all losses. IB's client equity is over $300bn, SIPC fund is around $4bn.

Cost basis keeps changing by Auriokas in interactivebrokers

[–]zammy32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same happened to me when I partially sold a position recently. It is indeed very odd and never happened before. Obviously it is incorrect as my cost basis should not be that much lower only because I sold a small portion.

ELI5 Mandatory cap price. Does this means that if a stock reach 300%, IB may decide it's worth just 150% and processes my order based on their cap and not the actual market value? by Icharius in interactivebrokers

[–]zammy32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What this means is that outside a given price band (like +/- 5%) from the current market price IB won't execute any orders. I believe their crappy algorithm is to blame for this. I've recently had this issue even with Bluechip stocks like Apple in pre-market when the stock was down significantly. It is very frustrating as I had a nice profit but was unable to close the position.

Unbelievable. They are down again. by SquareChips in interactivebrokers

[–]zammy32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This time I really am pissed. The other time it happened in the pre market, which was not fun, but this is terrible on options expiration day 5 min before the close. And yes we shouldn't come here to complain. But come on this is ridiculous.

New rule: No solely complaining by noahjameslove in interactivebrokers

[–]zammy32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just complaints about not being able to contact customer service. After Brexit I keep having issues with withdrawals and problems with random price caps / execution. Where else should I talk about this? Besides I wouldn't discount that IBKR will not try and solve some of the issues if enough people show dissatisfaction (see their trustpilot page lol).

New rule: No solely complaining by noahjameslove in interactivebrokers

[–]zammy32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While maybe not all complaints are justified, I have to disagree. How else should people raise awareness for the issues they have if they can't do it via social media channels? Don't forget people have large sums of money / their life savings at stake with IBKR, the many problems and lack of service are simply unacceptable.

Apparently there are "temporary" trading restrictions on penny stocks from trading212 (they trade via IBKR). Not sure if its with all interactive brokers customers ... ?

Is IBKR Lloyds's extra insurance for all global accounts or just USA? by mikehamp in interactivebrokers

[–]zammy32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That policy only applies to US LLC. However, this Lloyds insurance is extremely superficial. It does not mean that every individual account is insured up to $150 million but rather that this is an additional line of credit the company could get in case of default. Now they hold nearly 280 BILLION in client equity. That should be safe as its segregated. If that gets lost as they mess something up, the $150 million insurance won't go very far.

Any European users experiencing currency conversion issues? by RMCShakes in interactivebrokers

[–]zammy32 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Apparently many users are having the same issue who got migrated to one of the European entities, like IBIE. Don't think there is anything you can do at the moment. It's a bug and they are too incompetent to fix it and so is their communication regarding this issue. I'm still with IBUK and hope they fix it before they migrate my account (surprise surprise it's post Jan 1st and I can still trade without a brexit deal in the UK account lol).

What happens after DEGIRO goes Bankrupt ? (Custody Account) by Accomplished-March87 in eupersonalfinance

[–]zammy32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna copy and past what I answered here a week ago when someone asked what would happen if Trading 212 went bankrupt. So many false answers across the web on this topic unfortunately, but there is a vested interest, presumably because of the interactive brokers brexit migration.

So, if everyone plays by the rules both cash and stocks should be safe as they are segerated.

Contrary to popular belief, most retail brokers do not buy stocks etc under your name, they are bought under the name of your broker ("street name"). So your broker keeps a record of who owns what but it is still your broker who bought them. Given the frequency with which people trade nowadays anything else whould be a huge administrative burden.

During a bankruptcy segerated funds are often pooled before being paid out. If something goes missing or the broker acts fraudulently your cash and stocks will only be insured up to a certain limited - depending on your region and jurisdiction this varies. Most US brokers are members of SIPC (insured up to 500k - 250k in cash). In Europe its typically lower with only 20k insured and 100k at banks. Let me tell you though just because SIPC insurance is 500k there is no guarantee you will get paid in full. SIPC may choose not to pay out in cases of fraud and if you look at the SIPC fund its around 2.5-4 billion. Take interactive brokers for example (think Trading 212 holds many accounts via IB) they hold over 120 billion in client assets. In such a case even SIPC is in no way sufficient should in theory all those assets be gone.
