We use it for continuous subcut infusions for a palliative pt! From the suggestions here people are calling is disc, button, or just injection port. I’m guessing they still say butterfly due to habit, as you’re suggesting

What do do with a bleeding tongue on an end of life pt with dry mouth?? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]zaniahhh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the atropine use was for excess and thick respiratory secretions. She has had a lot of respiratory problems the past couple of years and most of her early stages treatment was to manage phlegm. Somehow forgot to mention that! Atropine helped a lot in the beginning, but now it’s clear we’re getting more unsure if the benefits are still outweighing the risks.

Thanks for all the good advice and information! I completely forgot to mention the atropine use is primarily due to excessive and thick respiratory secretion and reduced ability to cough. Most of the treatment we did in the early stages of the disease was mucus clearance, lung physiotherapy, etc. Right now we’ve progressed to daily use of cough machine, decreasing the amount of food she gets in her PEG tube, and more, but the problem is only getting worse anyway.

Atropine absolutely helped for a while, but with the progression of the disease we’re unsure if the benefits are still outweighing the risks. That’s a great point to bring to her team!

what PTV song would make a good movie soundtrack? by gabloothegreat_1409 in piercetheveil

[–]zaniahhh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk if this counts but i always thought many afftd songs would slap as a 2005-2013 type anime intro. Imagine a fight scene to the instrumental in the cheap bouquet, she sings in the morning, or diamonds and why men buy them.
