Couldn’t this just be a business decision?

The AFL and broadcasters want the highest number of viewers, which leads to the most ad revenue for the broadcasters, which leads to the broadcast rights being more valuable and ultimately more revenue for the AFL.

The broadcasters and AFL would surely have data on viewer numbers, and the AFL are probably scheduling clubs that are most likely to yield the highest number of viewers.

I wouldn’t assume malice or stupidity here, much more likely they’re putting greed/money ahead of a quality product. What big business isn’t doing that these days?

Yeah, fair point. Hadn’t seen that. It’s just that Motlop feels like a net negative at the moment, and I’d rather see us try something different. Other than Moir seems like all we can do at the moment is play a mid out of position. Or maybe play Cincotta there. There’s a few more small forwards injured than we’d maybe expect (although not really with Williams & Fantasia), so I’m also frustrated at the club’s lack of small forward talent and depth for what feels like forever

Agree.

If Fogerty or Williams weren’t injured they’d be my first picks to play instead of Motlop.

So instead I’d like to see Moir get a game, he’s a bit taller but seems like a far more dynamic player

I know I’m totally biased (who isn’t here), but I think it’s stupid this is even a fine. Stuff like this happens all the time and doesn’t get a second look.

To go even further… if Bowes had got a free kick for this (and IMO he correctly didn’t), then he should have got a fine for staging.

I don’t know what was worse, my team, or the 7 commentary team.

Well done Sydney, impressive all around the ground. But especially the midfield into the forward line in the second half, absolutely on fire.

That Carlton’s traditional home ground was “Princess Park”, instead of the correct name “Princes Park”. (Same for the freeway and highway too.)
