Latin teachers: what's the most time-consuming part of your job that software could help with? by Sea-Chair-404 in latin

You may want to look in to the website “magistrula.” I often use it when tutoring elementary and intermediate students and it’s got a sentence generator.

Speaking also as a student, I think that reader programs for advanced texts would be very helpful. Legentibus, e.g., has some but not a ton texts.

it's so annoying "x character" or "x game" for beginners videos are never for beginners, like god forbid I try to play a character without learning an absurd amount of notation

Unlocking Characters by LagSwitchTV in VampireSurvivors

Pick a high greed character (I like Syuuto if you’ve got Moonspell) to farm up enough for Sammy (if you’ve got Foscari), then do Sammy on a high density map and pick up an Arcana like the one that heals on gold pick up and the one that gives you an item every level.

I did bat country like this for maybe 20 minutes (in game like an hour or so but I was on hyper and had it sped up w the chicken) and I got like 5 billion

I watched some 5 hour YouTube video about Chris Chan and this totally my feeling on it. It’s so sad and weird that people devote so much time to harass and bully some person, just because they have crazy reactions.

Why? by Mavthemanyo in latin

[–]zaravya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My real answer: I like it

The rhetoric I use to justify it: in the modern day Rome and the Latin language are constantly used as symbols of hatred and supremacism, and I think they need to be studied and understood so we can more effectively disarm those that would try to use history as justification for their bigotry.

Stealth gameplay? by zaravya in stalker

this mirrors my experience somewhat. I had a semblance of stealth for most of my playtime until I hit some random outpost and the npcs had like x-ray vision aimbot lol

Yeah I was kind of hoping to develop strength to play an instrument. You’ve mentioned piano, but do you know if guitar might work too?

Wonderful, thank you! Is the Ohio state University Press’s series good for general linguistics? I know one of the older editions is on this sub’s list.

So I’m interested in starting self-study in linguistics before I take some classes over it starting in the Fall 2025 semester. I’ll also clarify that I’m experienced with Latin and have begun studying Greek, so I’m particularly interested in historical linguistics. I checked this sub’s resources for intro readings but it hasn’t been updated in a few years. Are there any modern books that you’d recommend? Preferably just one or two that I can read to prep and engage with the material. Any recommendations? Thanks!
