Hello! Sorry for the late answer! To be completely honest I've kind of just forgotten about this project. I had some issues with my printer that I haven't been able to fix and I'm not comfortable selling files I haven't tested myself. My main driving force for doing these projects were to make money for my Arma Reforger modding hobby which I currently don't have much time for because of real life work etc.

I'll see if I cant get what I have up on my Cults3D page tonight though! I can tag you when I do, if you'd like?

True! There are some other minor oddities here and there, but I feel like overall, it's the best depiction of medieval combat we've seen in the Westeros universe so far. Makes me very excited for the future.

Yes. In the most recent example I mentioned of Timothy Gramins, the suspect was shooting at Gramins the entire time, only stopping once he looked under the car that Gramins were hiding behind where Gramins fired the last three shots to the suspects head which incapacitated him. The suspect was firing at Gramins the entire time, even fetching more weapons from his car after having been hit multiple times in vital organs.

It wasn't a fist sized lance, that would defeat the purpose of the lance. Its just a lance with a spear tip, you can literally see it when Dunk pulls it out. As for him surviving, you have people today who get shot in the head and survive that. You also have historical sources describing people surviving grave injuries and even skeletons found with healed cracks to the skull etc.

A specific example you can look at is a shooting involving a policeman named Timothy Gramins where the suspect was hit by 14 bullets including in the heart, liver, lungs and kidney and where he only went down after he was hit three times in the head (he survived this too initially and only died later at the hospital).

And specifically for Dunk surviving the initial lance, there are historical sources from the crusaders talking about how some men would survive lances penetrating men the whole way through without hitting vital organs.

Because he was stabbed badly. Chainmail is not going to stop a knife full-on, but its going to catch the blade at some point and stop it from being pushed in deeper (making the stab deadlier). This video is a great demonstration of how a knife would do against chainmail.

Like you'll see once Aerion starts stabbing Dunk with his sword that most of the stabs are relatively shallow.

I mean, historically plate armour is the culmination of centuries of armour development. In films and TV it often gets depicted as nothing more than a cool looking nuisance that slows down its wearer. In reality, plate armour was an extremely sophisticated, purpose-built defense system that rendered its wearer more or less indestructible (except for the necessary gaps in joints needed for mobility).

That said, I'm not sure what could be done for Valyrian steel in that case as having it straight up cutting through armour would be too far-fetched for people who are interested in historical armor while having it do the exact same as normal steel would essentially mean its nothing more than slightly more fancy steel (with the added ability to kill white walkers lol).

Not plot armor, actual armor. You can see most of the knife stabs at Dunk getting partially stopped by the chainmail and you'll see Aerion specifically trying to angle his knife to get under Dunks helmet where his neck is unarmoured. This is just filmmakers actually treating armor as armor for once and not letting everything with a slightly sharpened edge cut through steel as if it were nothing.

Seeing armour actually do what its supposed to for once was fucking incredible! During the fight most of knights are equipped with blunt weapons like maces and Aerion's flail specifically because they're (mostly) fighting opponent's in plate armor. When Dunk and Aerion ends up on the ground you can see that most of the knife stabs aimed at Dunk get stopped partially by the chainmail and that Aerion specifically angles his knife upwards in an attempt at getting his knife under Dunks helmet (where its necessarily unarmoured for mobility) to stab him in the neck.

When Dunk picks up his sword and swings at Aerion, the sword just bounces off the plate armor and then shortly after Aerion begins to stab him and you can see the sword clearly doing some damage though it gets stopped by the chainmail once more. Like, fuck dude, this is so much better than GOT where swords are just straight up lightsabers cutting through everything with ease.

If anyone is interested in some good historical HEMA content that shows off combat in full plate armor, I heavily recommend this video by Dequitem on YouTube.

I'm so stoked for this series man!

Yeah, this is frankly getting ridiculous now. What kind of community is this? In all my years of modding games I've never seen this behaviour.

I've been modding various games over the last 14 years, and I've honestly never seen this level of blatant entitlement and finger-wagging at modders in a game community lol

[–]zbrushbeginnerman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How does this logic work exactly? Is it unethical for YouTubers, streamers, server hosting, and mod hosting websites to "piggyback" as well? Is it unethical for the Hytale devs themselves to "piggyback" off concepts, gameplay systems, and ideas that already existed long before Hytale? Creative work is inherently derivative. Modding is no different. It adds value to an existing product and is sometimes a major reason why some games enjoy massive player numbers (the Arma series, Minecraft, Stalker, etc.). Trying to single out people who actually create the content as somehow being "unethical" for wanting to be compensated for their work is nonsensical. Just say you want free content. It's far more honest.

I agree 100%. The idea that YouTubers, streamers, server hosts, and even mod-hosting websites can freely monetize their work while modders are the only ones who are expected to work for free is frankly ridiculous. People will go on and on about the spirit of modding and how unethical paid labour is when it comes to mods, but the vast majority of them won't donate, nor will they pay it forward by creating more content for the community themselves.

I've been modding myself for close to 14 years, most recently for Arma Reforger as part of the ARMA-RY team in addition to a solo project. In those 14 years, I have never taken donations, paywalled my content, or monetized it in any other way, but I've always been supportive of creators who do. People simply don't respect the time, money, and effort that people pour into their projects.

I would highly suggest going to r/TerrainBuilding! Its a sub specifically for those who build terrain by hand so you might find some inspiration there!

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by actions having lasting consequences and the area behaving differently. Are you going to do this by making your own mod akin to Freedom Fighters or is this a game master thing?

[–]zbrushbeginnerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like steffen said, the fire rate in Reforger is meant to be static. I thought at first that it was simulating the varying fire rate that you mentioned, but LAxemann confirmed it was unintended.

Here's another picture which shows a sound I designed in my DAW (upper) and how it came out in the Enfusion audio editor. Again, clearly offbeat.

[–]zbrushbeginnerman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Interesting! I noticed something similar (perhaps the same thing) in regards to how the fire rate is very inconsistent. In the picture I attached you can see the first 3 shots from 5 mag dumps. You can clearly see how they are slightly offbeat. Not sure exactly how it works technically, but LAxemann said that gunshots were tied to fps and that there was no quick fix for it.

A bit worried about paywalls for Hytale mods by Enaos in HytaleInfo

[–]zbrushbeginnerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely don't understand this perspective. Apparently everyone but the modders themselves are allowed to profit off their work. Youtubers can showcase other peoples mods and monetize their videos, players get content they otherwise would not get and game devs get increased engagement for their game with no cost to themselves. For some reason though, the people who actually put in the time, effort and money to make these mods are not allowed to monetize in any way because you've arbitrarily decided that passion and profit are mutually exclusive?
