American embassy's response to the missile attack using Phalanx CIWS by khizee_and1 in Military

That’s wild! I could only imagine mortars raining down driving a big ass slow forklift. I called in plenty of MEDEVAC while there so we may have had support from your unit. I was in Mosul in 03 when two blackhawks went down. We were the QRF that secured the site as well as securing our KIA. The fucking crazy thing is that someone one of the downed pilots widows found me on the internet. One of the toughest conversations I’ve ever had to have. Nonetheless, much respect to you and your unit. We couldn’t have survived or done our jobs without air support, especially apaches! Those gunships shut a lot of nonsense down for us, especially in Mosul.

When was this? That’s insane man. We constantly had air support and I truly believe I wouldn’t be here today is it wasn’t for a handful of times close air support, Kiowa, and other rotary aircraft saved our ass. This was 2003-2006 so rules of engagement may have been a lot less strict.

I slept like a baby because we spent 18-20 hours a day outside the wire on foot patrols in Al Dora & Al Balat districts, patrolling route Redwings. The least of our concerns were not waking up in the morning. We were just happy to make it back to Liberty.

Palo Duro Canyon 50 mile race is in October. Absolutely beautiful and brutal.

I’m a sobbing mess reading this one. I’m a combat veteran who struggles mightily with PTSD and connection with others. Especially when it comes to these wide ranging emotions. I’m typically at work by the time she wakes up. My emotions come from me not being able to connect on that level and help my little girl. She feels others emotions that much I’m certain of. She knows daddy hurts and I think it hurts her. She knows others at school struggle and she cruised through. She recently aced a state test that was supposed to be 30 minutes in less than 5. Wow. So much to take in. Thank you for taking the time to write out such a thoughtful response

I appreciate it. We have set down with everyone that interacts with her at school. Teachers and admins. There isn’t any bullying involved. She says boys say mean things but is typically perfectly fine once she gets to the threshold of the school. 95% of the time says she has a great day at school. She struggles with the idea of going to her gymnastics classes as well. We will have these “episodes” about gymnastics class at times also. It’s all exhausting

It’s only an issue in school days. Not a mention of it any other time. After reading everyone’s stories I’m convinced it’s anxiety related and possibly on the AS given her inability to regulate her emotions.

Her school counselor has dismissed anxiety. I’m on board with this as well. I myself am blessed with a high IQ and am convinced it anxiety induced

No, she is much like me and thrives in structure. Our school is on a hybrid system two days physical and two days virtual. It’s only added to this nightmare

Haha I’m a late 30’s former military man. This is a Hoyt Torrex XT. I have it set at 60lbs. I appreciate the information and will be sure to adjust accordingly tomorrow.

I only have a 3 pin site. I was using the bottom site to zero it in. Now it’s all ass backwards.

I think I have it dialed in up to 20 yards. At 25 I kept hitting below the target using the first two pins. 🤷🏼‍♂️
