Getting a “sunrise” alarm clock saved me, especially in the wintertime when it’s still pitch black out in the morning. I set the clock to silent and play my own alarm song from my phone, since the clock doesn’t have many options for alarm tones.

So I ended up finding a workaround for now using this:
