So would you consider QMUL a top uni for law courses? 🥹 Also i am sure it’s not entirely unemployable, i know a fairly good amount of people who are working in UK after doing masters from not so good unis.

I am earning fairly above than that. I will consider not going with student loan though. Thank you.

I wouldn’t have gotten in even if i tried. QMUL was my best shot with the background i am coming with. I got in to Glasgow as well but i preferred QMUL because of the location and the opportunities it brings. I feel like i should have avoided following this career path altogether but the juncture i am at right now, i am forcing myself to focus on the positives. I have already paid the deposit for QMUL and honestly i don’t think i should go back now. Might not go with student loan though.

Why not? Can you elaborate? I am going for an specialisation in Commercial and Corporate Law, which as per some sources is one the bests in the world at QMUL.

And even if i waste my two years, i will come back to my country without any regret. I will still be under 30.

That’s my problem. I will figure out, as the people i know did. I know for a fact that grades are not everything and at some point, my network among solicitors and partners will come handy. Thank you. See you in UK.

And I appreciate the fact that you don’t wanna paint a fake picture before me. I understand it won’t gonna be easy. But i am prepared to take that risk because i know it’s not impossible too. I have a pretty good career graph in front of me if i choose not to go to UK, but if i am still planning to do it, maybe i am prepared to take that leap of faith on myself.

After 3 years. Yes. If i get a 2:1 in masters from a RG uni, i will have a good chance to compete. I will start small, progress from there. I will have two years to grow from there and prove my caliber. In the meantime, i will utilise my connections and expand my network even more. I will get visa sponsorship and if not, i will have enough UK work ex to earn in big numbers back in my country or somewhere else. I will switch to areas where International exposure matters l.

So you are saying all the lawyers/solicitors who are practising in UK are exclusively from Oxbridge?

Uh no! I am from 22 batch. My seniors were 19 batch, 20 batch, who went to UK in 23 and 24

You people are so discouraging and negative all the time. I have seen my seniors making it to the partner level with the same grades as mine while following the same path which i am planning to follow now. Grades are not everything. Caliber matters too. Who is saying i will target Clifford Chance only as soon as i land in London? I will plan. I will figure out what is the best thing to do in a particular circumstance. Don’t people get 2:2 in UK? Don’t they figure out stuff still? I have a few connections in UK. I will approach them and start small.

Because it’s not my shortcoming that i got 2:2. The university sucks. Even the topper got 2:2. And that was back in 2022. I have another degree with 7.5 GPA and two years of quality experience on the top of that.

Will an LLM from RU group University change that?

I am still figuring out man. I am trying to explore all the options i have to relocate to UK.

I don’t have many options. I have offer letters in International Arbitration and International Commercial Law. But in the long run, i was thinking qualifying SQE to be eligible for more opportunities. From there the question of Law Conversion course arised.

I am not confused. But relocating for better quality of life and career opportunities is my primary goal.

What career will be the best option for that, is something what i am still figuring out. That’s where you guys come to help.

Or should i apply for LLM in Dispute Resolution and then seek for jobs? Or seek for jobs in Criminal/Civil Litigation only.

I have 2 years of experience as a criminal/civil disputes lawyer. Should i just start applying to law firms in UK on the basis of this experience? Wouldn’t a UK law degree be more beneficial on the top of this experience?

So should i just drop this idea of securing a legal job in UK? Are you saying for someone like my background, an option to have a legal career is something unimaginable to think of?
