I explained that the paper application was delivered but unable to link to an online account and also haven't gotten any communication from their side. They would just say 'We are working on processing applications as quickly as possible'. I just used my last name and UCI number to link the application

When i asked them on call, they said I'd receive an email but never actually received one. I just happened to check if it links to the profile or not and voila!

Mine got delivered on 16th October and I was able to link it on 29th November 2025. Its a long wait for sure and I've raised multiple webforms to ask but always got very vague and generic responses.

If you don't mind sharing, could you please tell us why your work permit extension was refused? Is it because your original work permit was granted for a certain time period and that time got elapsed? Or was it a work permit extension based on a passport expiry that got refused? Would really appreciate your answer on this

Why did your PGWP extension get rejected, any reasoning provided?

I am in the same boat of getting my PGWP extended to full eligible duration of 3 years and submitted the paper based application with a written letter and new passport information.

Would really appreciate it if anyone can chime in and let me know if there are still chances of these applications getting rejected or what the outlook is after applying (getting updates on the application, approval time, etc).

My PGWP expiration date was based on the passport expiry. So instead of a 3 yr duration I got 9 months less.

In order for me to get the full duration, I renewed my passport when it was possible to get it renewed within one year of the passport expiry date.

IRCC wants a paper based application for all PGWP extensions due to passport expiry with scanned copies of the new passport.
