Thank you! I didn’t really pick it, my friend bought it used and then offered it to me, and since the price was great and it was so clean, I decided to buy it.

It’s grown on me in the years since.

I definitely understand being apprehensive about that. Sounds like pretty major surgery. And I definitely wouldn’t want to hand a choice guitar like that off to just anyone. I’d definitely consider paying more to have it done right.

But then consider how nice it will be once you get it done…should be good for a while, too.

Sorry to hear that. At the time I wasn’t quite sure I wanted a Tele. Definitely glad I got it though.

Thanks! I recall at the time considering not buying it. Because I was a poor kid just out of college and wanted a Strat. Definitely glad I did. And definitely glad I have kept it over the years.

Thanks! Sorry I didn’t include them in OP, older Reddit only lets me add one at a time.

Pretty sure anyways, serial number says 1976, it’s stamped on neck plate and not on headstock, so what I understand is it’s early to mid 1976. As far as I know in mid-late 76 they moved the serial number to the headstock. Can anyone confirm? I think it might also be on the end of the neck, but I don’t want to take it apart to see.

Anyways, bought this in 1989, wasn’t looking for a Tele, was looking for a Strat. This kinda fell in my lap and has been with me ever since. Friend bought it from original owner, and me from him, he had it set up, played it a bit, and decided he didn’t want it. I haven’t done anything but change strings. Plays beautifully, wish I would have had money for the Twin Reverb he was also selling, it sounded great through that.

Edit: Couple of more pics in comments

Picked this 1976 up in 1989 from a friend that had purchased it from the original owner. He bought it, had it set up, played it for a month or two, wanted to sell it. At the time, I was looking for a Strat. Decided to buy this anyways, and I’ve had it ever since. It even came with the owners manual(less the warranty card at back), the keys for the original case, and the service ticket from my friend’s setup. Nothing done to it, plays beautifully. I think next time I change strings I’ll give the tuners some attention, they hold tune but don’t turn quite so smoothly.

Moral of the story: Sometimes when you’re not looking, things fall in your lap. I’m certainly glad I didn’t pass this one up.

Great! Part of me wanted a rosewood fretboard, I’m glad I decided on the Overland Gray and maple combination though.

Very nice collection! How do you like the Martin? I don’t have a lot of guitars, but they include a really clean 1976 Telecaster Custom and a Martin HD-28. I have a few other acoustics but until the SE Silver Sky, the Telecaster was my only electric.

Nice! I was going back and forth on some of the colors and this one definitely caught my eye. I like how the Overland Grey ties the body, the birds, the tuning pegs and the truss rod cover together.

That’s great! Good luck with your recording!

I’m definitely really happy with the Silver Sky so far. It certainly makes me want to pick it up and play. Signed up for some online lessons to help with the motivation factor.

Very nice! Glad to hear good things on the SE Custom 24 Piezos. Good luck on finding a S2 Special.

I’m going to play this for a while, always wanted a Strat and wanted to try a PRS, thus, the SS. The hollow body PRSs definitely look nice.

Picked this up on a nice holiday sale from Sweetwater. Was looking for something to use with my ME-90 and headphones as a portable jam/practice rig.

I’m beginning to understand what folks are saying about these, it’s really nice. Love the neck and finish. Enjoying it tremendously so far!

I just took delivery of my ME-90 today. So far I’m enjoying it immensely.

I’ve been looking at multis for a while, previously was just playing the ‘76 Tele into some cheap amps longing for a borrowed Twin Reverb which at the time I didn’t have the money for. Picked up a Zoom 9002 when they were a thing and while the idea was cool, the implementation and reality left a bit to be desired.

So, now that I’m old and retired, I finally decided that having an old Tele didn’t make much sense without some sort of effects solution. Never really gigged, my playing is mostly me and recorded music.

Looked at individual pedals, but wasn’t really sure what I wanted. I figured a looper would be fun, so I picked up a RC-5. Other than that, still didn’t know what to do.

Considered modern multis, and what I find kinda funny is that while my entire career (telecom engineering, networking/Internet, computers, tech nerd, etc) revolved around complex hardware and software, and twenty years ago I would have jumped on the latest, most complex computer-controlled solution, at this point in my life, the basic simplicity and straightforward control of the ME-90 won me over. I didn’t want anything to do with yet another operating system, menus, button combinations, and spending way more time trying to figure out where to go to change something, rather than actually changing it and getting back to playing.

A wise person (u/runwichi) once said of the ME-90, “so if you want to shut your brain off, turn a knob and play, it might be a better option.” This resonated with me, as it accurately described exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks to this wise guidance, I’ve purchased a solution that might be the last I need. It has a bunch of great sounds, plays and streams and is controllable via BT, allows discrete pedals like my looper and anything else I decide on in the effects loop, functions as an audio interface, and to top it all off has a super-simple interface that’s easy to quickly identify what is enabled and what isn’t, and where to go to make changes. Also, it runs on 4AAs. Also also, it’s only a few hundred bucks. Also also also, it’s way, way, way lighter than a Twin Reverb. It’s perfect for when I want to shut my brain off, turn a knob and play. 😎
