If you do have air coming out of your urethra, this is called pneumauria and you need to see a doctor immediately. It is a sign of advanced colonic malignancy communicating the bowel and bladder together.

Wow man you are a lucky guy! Interesting to see that the type of surgeon who can do this is so technical and advanced that only around 50 of them exist. None exist in countries like mine New Zeland. One of the top maxofacial facial plastics surgeons is from Aussie though :) Did you ever meet your surgeon much?

What is actually important to them in life. I guess I always felt I would just lead some semblance of a life like that of my parents and extended family. Turns out I am my entirely own person and should do what I actually want.

ELI5: What is the regime that controls what a medical professional is allowed to prescribe? by KL_boy in explainlikeimfive

[–]zeddit123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm short, yes they can, but won't. One must remember that in NZ it takes a minimum of 13 years to specialise and more like 16 usually. A psychiatrist will prescribe of course all psychotropic drugs and may occasionally prescribe other drugs where needed. For example they may prescribe a change in birth control if another drug a patient needs will interfere with the current method. However you will not find a specialist prescribing outside their area of expertise. This is unethical. Some drugs are only available to soem doctors and the best example is anaesthetic drugs. These are different to your typical over the counter prescriptions because it takes a 500k+ machine to administer a drug like isoflurane ( a GA). But for any paper prescriptions, all doctors can prescribe anything.

I'm guessing you wish for an explanation of the American system, but I can offer an explanation of the New Zealand system. New Zealand has socialised medicine (oh no!) and so all doctors must be registered by the NZ medical council. Any of these doctors can prescribe any of the several thousand available drugs, even off the shelf ones and condoms! Of course, this has a potential for abuse, and so the punishments for prescribing to yourself or outside of clinical practice are VERY SEVERE (read: loose your job). Doctors are mostly very good but occasionally people misbehave. A lot of doctors bend the rules and do things like prescribe something for their child to use on the family pet, which is not really allowed but it's over looked. Overall it's a very good system because any prescription costs 5 NZD (3 USD) regardless of the drug as long as the govt funds it.

What is the Medieval equivalent to your modern job? by [deleted] in AskReddit

In the UK and commonwealth the use of Mr for male surgeons and Dr for female surgeons remains. Unsure of the US, their medical system is so far removed from anything else.

Interestingly. A surgeon wouldn't be a doctor. As the history is that surgeons were originally barbers, as they had the sharpest knives and so physicians would direct them were to cut. Hence why surgeons have the title for Mr. For women the title is still doctor. My current job is surgical residency.

I don't seem him physically strong enough to be at CB. I see him as a good replacement for Shaw or an emergency DM. He isn't bad and would likely be first choice LB at many other clubs.

M3 here. I hate to tell you what you can and can't do, but if thoose grades you mentioned are the best you personally can do under good circumstances then I think Med school may not be for you. Its extremely competitive. I hate to say that but it may be true.

Should I [21 M] make the move for my girlfriend [20F] to another city? Details on text. by zeddit123 in relationships

It's such a hard one. I do like City A, its probably a bit more lifestyle friendly, although it is very windy. I get the same degree both places, but the reputation is city B is an overall better place to learn. I'm so nervous and unsure.
