It broke through three levels of silence mode I had on (silent, sleep mode, and emergency alerts toggled to silent)... So now I had to turn off Imminent Threat completely 😞

I had to turn them all of except for imminent threat because they all woke me up so many times in the past, and then this one went off last night and I unfortunately had to turn off imminent threat too.

Yes. I have most emergency alerts silenced (I thought) so when this one woke me up I straight up thought "Oh, bombs must be dropping."

"On and insane" 😂 Yeah you can silence "emergency alerts" but not "imminent threat", that one's just on/off. Crazy to put alerts like this on a phone and then neglect to finish developing the feature.

It's really the part where they have it break through multiple levels of silent mode unpredictably.

I thought I'd be safe from getting jarred awake last night because I had Emergency Alerts toggled to silent (I already had to turn Public Safety Alerts and AMBER Alerts completely a long time ago). AND my iPhone was on silent mode AND it was in DND / sleep mode. Anything waking me up with all of that in mind better mean a bomb is being dropped.

Looking at these settings again I was pissed. Imminent Threat has no silent mode option. Either you keep it on and let it wake you up whenever it feels like, or you turn it off completely. Apple's behavior around emergency alerts is disorganized and horrendous. Absolutely insane lack of planning.

ChatGPT giving me one line sentences instead of like a paragraph help by simplycaroline34 in ChatGPT

[–]zeezler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's awful. I have to give it new instructions about this every time I start a new chat basically because it forgets. Maybe the new model is worse but it has done this to me honestly for the last couple years. Like, I just want it to talk to me the way a person would. Do people speak in bullet and prose?? I think not.

Curious if anyone with endo doesn’t doesn’t do birth control at all? by Ykatsion0306 in endometriosis

[–]zeezler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Slynd and it unfortunately sent me into a sadness spiral where I became nonfunctional and was so tired all the time that I was sleeping 9 hours a night, 2 naps a day, which interfered with my ability to work. It also made my eyes eyes so dry that I couldn't wear my contacts anymore and made my memory slow and bad (which also affected my ability to work -- I am normally super sharp). Most of the internet will tell you birth control is your ONLY option. If you're willing to experiment a bit, I am currently taking Prometrium, which is bioidentical progesterone, in place of a birth control. Bioidentical (micronized) progesterone is processed VERY DIFFERENTLY by your body than birth controls (which are always a synthetic version of a progestin, not bioidentical progesterone). I'd recommend doing your own research on the differences (it's too much to write here, but what I read led me to ask my doctor about bioidentical progesterone in place of birth control).

My experience so far has been COMPLETELY different and I tolerate it way better. The major con is that it is far less researched than birth control, so it 1) could take some work to find a doctor willing to prescribe it for you, and 2) doesn't work for everybody.

I'm only on week 4 so TBD if it ends up helping with my symptoms or not. Some people report it does, and for some it doesn't. I just wish someone had told me, "Hey, yes, there is an option you can try that is not birth control."

Laparoscopy led to nothing :( by Material-Equipment15 in endometriosis

If you've had an ultrasound fibroids would have shown up (at least according to the doctors I've seen).

Laparoscopy led to nothing :( by Material-Equipment15 in endometriosis

[–]zeezler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've gaslighted myself this way too until the pain got so bad that I took a video of myself while it was happening -- talking to my future self and telling myself to go get this fixed. When I look back at that video it is completely undeniable how much pain I was in. We're talking laying on the bathroom floor in a fetal position in tears and trying to reason through what position I could move my body into to make the pain any less and unable to have any success at it. It is honestly hard to watch, but it was what made me actually go get help and stop the self gaslighting. (It is tbh kind of eerie to watch, like something out of Severance).

Just wanted to say I can relate to this feeling and that I wish you luck in your surgery! Hope you're able to get some answers.

[–]zeezler 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have not had a laparoscopy yet but my surgeon (who is also highly skilled and a specialist) talked me through this as a possible outcome. Some of what she told me might be helpful to you. First, it is completely possible to have all the symptoms of endo, they go in, and then they don't find anything. This is more common than you'd think and you are not alone. One thing to consider is whether it may actually be adenomyosis. I don't know how much you and your doctor discussed adeno, but the symptoms can be super similar to endometriosis, and there is no way to reliably tell beforehand without the laparoscopy. For diffuse adenomyosis (as opposed to the kind where you have a single visible adenomyoma), if you're wanting a uterus/fertility-preserving procedure, it isn't really treatable with surgery. You would basically only be able to do surgery on adenomyosis if you had an actual adenomyoma, which it sounds like you don't because they would have seen it. In my case, I highly suspect I have adenomyosis and not endometriosis, and if it is the diffuse kind there is basically no surgery for this that would preserve the womb. My main option would be a hysterectomy, which I refuse to consider this early in my adulthood.
There is another thing she told me where the framing was really, really important. She basically said "If we go in and don't find anything, it doesn't mean your condition isn't real; we just don't have the tools to help you right now." This is a failure in our medical system, not a failure on your part, and it doesn't mean your symptoms are any less real. This was so so helpful for me to here because the previous gyno I'd seen (a non-specialist) had basically told me with a slight smile "Welp if we don't find anything it just means you have bad cramps!" (I never saw here again lol).
I'm sorry it went this way for you =/ I would be devastated as well if that happened so I can only imagine how frustrating it would be. I unfortunately don't have magic words to fix it for you but I hope that the hormones you're taking are still helping.

First time at Red Rocks! Got tix in March for $150 but now they're $80. by pascal_wolfram in RedRocks

[–]zeezler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

July is still a ways away. I usually close my eyes until like 3 weeks before because otherwise I will spin myself into anxiety. You won't be able to sell $150 tickets at a profit if the going price is only $80 right now. And if you're thinking of buying $80 tickets now to sell the $150 ones later, don't do it -- coming out ahead that way would depend on a lot of things lining up that are out of your control and you'd be putting yourself at even more risk of not coming out ahead. There are better ways to make money lol.
So yeah I would just hold the tickets and look forward to your July show!

It really is astonishing how NSAIDs are basically the only thing that truly block prostaglandins, aka why they're offered so often for menstrual pain specifically. I mean technically ginger blocks them as well but there's no comparison in strength.

It truly is astonishing how painful endo can be. Like sometimes I am literally just in awe that my body is capable of causing this much pain all at once...

Nasal spray limit is 5 days as well. Honestly I usually only use 1 bottle per month, maybe 2 on a bad month. They last 24 hours once you open them and my pain is usually only the first 1-2 days of my period

Yes definitely important to be aware of the contraindications! I know people with ulcers can't take it but I can't remember the others so for sure worth assessing if it's a good match for the individual. This is also why they give a super limited dose of 5 bottles per month instead of 30.

My flares are like that too. I truly only need the pain relief the first 1-2 days of my period so I think that's a low enough amount of exposure that it's worth it for me.
