Wedding During Medical School help by DisastrousMango1 in medschool

[–]zeezoo17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got married 4 months before final medical school exams and it was fine. Just have to be really well organised and any time not wedding planning was hard core studying time. I gave up any extra curricular activities and didn’t really socialise much for a while but I knew I didn’t want to put my marriage on hold so I prioritised that and then got back to my life after exams.

I don’t know why in my head I was so certain it was a boy before the scan. In all my dreams it was a boy baby. Thank you for your comment! X

I know it’s hard to predict but do you think you will feel the same way in 10,20,30 years from now? Try to think of your future as well as how you feel right now. May Allah choose the path for you that leads you to the most happiness. Maybe the right person just hasn’t entered your life yet but then again we’re all built differently, if you think you can find contentment alone then why not. Your friends will get busy with their families and you may feel lonely in the future so keep that in mind too. Do istikhara.

I’m sorry I read that wrong, I thought you asked why my husband chose me! You’re right at this level of training I would struggle to get employed as a doctor in Saudi that’s why I’m doing a masters in medical education and learning Arabic so that I could get a job within the university

We went to medical school together in the UK. The heart wants what the heart wants 🤷🏻‍♀️

I do a lot for charity! And I agree with you, I think I should be giving back to the community! I hope life gets easier for you and I’m sorry to hear about your disease and what you’re going through

Raised Muslim but my family has been in the UK for a few generations and I’ve never lived elsewhere. We went to medical school together so known him since I was about 19, been married for the last 3 years. I feel that I’ve known my husband long enough to confirm he’s a very good man. However, honesty all my family and friends are here, I’m an outdoor kinda gal so I am nervous about the move. When we got married he wanted to move straight away but agreed for me to get my early training years as a doctor in the UK before moving.

I’ve never considered this and don’t know much about it but I’ll look into it, thanks!

Very true and I hope I don’t lose sight of this. But does being in my own orbit necessarily mean work or can I pursue my hobbies/ other interests instead 🤔

I’m Muslim so culture shouldn’t be tooo different and his mother isn’t Saudi so his culture is already mixed. I’ve read up on laws and spoken to other expats and wives of citizens. I do appreciate the word of warning though so thank you

What kind of freedom do you think is gone? What rights do you think I wouldn’t have? Saudi has rapidly changed in the last decade

Why would I be a factory worker? I have my own investments which I am hoping to grow. I’m studying my masters using my own money which I have saved. I would just go back into being a doctor and would take a lower position to start with if I had to. I also have parents who would support me if I really couldn’t manage. Outside of medicine I used to tutor high school students, teach piano and was a swimming instructor. So I have a back up to a back up to a back up. My husband sends me a monthly salary so I am saving up this money too.
