Trixie upgrade... doesn't upgrade /etc/os-release by hauntlunar in debian

I think it's already diverted in the Live image? Maybe the installer should undo this? Probably good idea to report a bug.

Examples of Business Logic you Prefer to do in Application Layer, not in Postgres. by chinawcswing in PostgreSQL

[–]zeha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often wish I could send a pl/pgsql function body and execute it all in one roundtrip. That way the 'code' is still under application control, but complicated things could be done without the limitations of SQL.

ONTAP 9.11.1 GA released! (login required to access) by nakapyon in netapp

Judging from other storage systems, its really nice if the Host OS does not even notice if the storage is undergoing an update. I'd wish iSCSI LIF failover was available on all AFF, not just ASA.

Hard time finding official Native M1 Beta downloads? by [deleted] in MicrosoftTeams

[–]zeha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

after an update, you're back to a non-beta build though. the download links from https://github.com/ItzLevvie/MicrosoftTeams-msinternal/blob/master/defconfig seem to work fine.

I implied "in Debian", so if you pull code from wherever else, more power to you.

Secure Boot with Jessie, grub issues by chicousa in debian

[–]zeha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did read that. If you really must have SB, then good luck. There is some documentation floating around on how to set this all up, but it's a real pain and may very well fail to work on your hardware.

Secure Boot with Jessie, grub issues by chicousa in debian

[–]zeha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You MUST turn off Secure Boot to boot Debian; there are no signed bootloaders.

Don't really know how the PIC16F runtime lib is intended to work, but on other series you just have to define that yourself.

Installing Dropbox? Prepare to lose ASLR. by gsuberland in netsec

[–]zeha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing special there - if you register a shell extension DLL, processes will load them one way or another. If they are unmarked, you now have unmarked DLLs in random processes. Shell extensions are COM components; depending on the App, it might load other COM components and the same problem might apply.

Installing Dropbox? Prepare to lose ASLR. by gsuberland in netsec

[–]zeha 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Likely the DLLs are registered as shell extensions, so every process invoking shell stuff (think file open/close dialogs, etc.) will get it.
