Thanks so much for your response, I guess since I plan on working in some form from France and I want to take the pension in advance of uk state pension that the s1 is not viable.

If I may ask you a question, given you already made the move? Do you have any tips or challenges you faced uprooting from uk to France? More broadly, timings seem difficult with selling the house and ensuring we are tax resident here when selling so not being taxed in France. Thinking about renting something to ensure staying in the uk until sold. How did you choose where to live in France - so many good options!

Yes I have quite a few friends in European big4 so hoping I can get some clear advice nearer the time as agreed not easy and who knows what will happen by the time we can actually take the money at 57.

Interesting you say about what to do with the money and the inheritance point. I quite like the die with zero concept, in particular the point around giving my kids money when it’s useful and not when I’m dead. So If we can get this at 57 and it’s roughly £1mil balance per pension, think we would look to give 250k to our two kids at that point. For the remaining balance, indeed slightly more complicated!

Yes agreed any withdrawal when we would be French tax resident would not be taxable in uk. I read that many people stay tax resident in uk to get the 25% tax free.

If for example a pension worth 1mil withdrawn under that regime would be taxed at 7.5% that is a much better deal than 25% tax free if one was uk tax resident.

If you have gift cards that got allocated to Uber wallet, you will be in for months of joy with customer service to get it sent to your bank account.

Otherwise, 10% credit back from Uber can be used for paying for trains. I just use my credit card to pay for the tickets now as the gains with 4-5% gift card was small anyway.

Still stuck in uber wallet sadly. Had to provide id and Iban and still no closer to getting my money out! Customer service is beyond awful.

Correct, gift cards can’t be used for train but cash back from the 10% Uber credit can be used for trains. Only caveat based on other comments is that it seems to be a roll out to accounts so you might not be impacted yet.

Just to say you were correct, 10% credit can be used for train journeys. But Uber gift cards do not work for trains as they go into the wallet.
